Follow this for a minute! Linda Tripp was shipped out of the WH after the Kathleen Wiley deal to the Pentagon. Next thing you know, 1996 election is coming up and they want Monica sent out of the White House and she just happens to end up in the same area as Tripp and they become friends? That defies probability since the Pentagon is so large.

Without Monica talking to Tripp, none of this would have come out and the China Investigation would have been front page news instead of the girl in the beret. Another thing that has always bothered me was Wag the Dog and showing the firefly girl in the beret -- that was just too close to reality for my believeability factor.

Two and two did not add up with Starr and his investigations either.

I agree, It was Linda Tripp who questioned the way the White House gifts were being handled and she was shown the door shortly after being told that "Things have changed, George H.W. Bush is no longer the President". Then months after Bill sidelined his 19 year old mistress, she was sent over to work with someone Clinton already knew didn't like him.

The whole thing smells and considering the lengths Bill Clinton would go to decieve those he felt he had to, this is not tinfoil talk by any standard

I believe you have hit the nail on the head. The Lewinsky investigation, you remember, was authorized by Reno. Reno never did anything without Clinton's approval.

Meanwhile, investigations into Chinese money and other issues involving China were bottled up inside the Justice Department. Reno ordered the $50 million investigation into Clinton's private life while insuring that the important investigations would never see the light of day.

Senior Republicans had to know this, of course, and acquiesced. Remember back to those days, of all the histrionics as Republicans demanded to know all about what went on in that side office but never once, not once, demanding to know about the sale of classified technology to China.

I remember the frustration in the faces and voices of the younger Repubs who were trying to get Clinton, knowing full well what he was truly guilty of, but only allowed this one tiny hammer for a weapon. But none ever questioned publicly why their leadership would not ask the important questions. You remember all the endless discussions, as the Dems repeated endlessly that the Lewinsky scandal did not rise to the level of impeachment, and the Repubs argued that it did...

Ignoring that Clinton was guilty of both Treason and Bribery, both of which are explicitly grounds for impeachment. Both sides of the aisle were right; the scandal was not an impeachable offense, no matter how many millions were spent investigating it. And, yes, Clinton was most definitely guilty of an impeachable offense, its just that no one had the guts to actually charge him with it.

Why would that be? Could it be that the Chinese don't only bribe Democrats? Could it be that Clinton would not go down alone? Could it be the reason the Repubs used the Lewinsky affair to try and take him down, is that she, unlike the Chinese, had only been with a senior Democrat?

Remember the Long Beach Naval Shipyard affair, in which China was represented by Al Haig, Republican, and in which Kissinger was also involved. And I remember a scandal involving the Aberdeen Proving Ground in which scientists doing calculations for China were outed, and the guys that outed them were fired... The affair began under Bush Sr and finished under Clinton, giving me the impression that Bush Sr was implicated in some of the same affairs as Clinton.

GW Bush strikes me as an honorable man, and I will vote for him again. But Bush Sr and Clinton are involved in some of the same monkey business. While Bush Sr may (I prefer to believe) have done what he did for God and Country, and Clinton clearly did it for personal gain, there is nonetheless no way to take down the one without taking down the other. And while GW is honorable, there is little chance he will arrest his Dad, thus the Clintons sleep soundly at night.
