As a 3rd generation Californian and thirty year ex-patriot,I wish you all the best in the recall effort. Milwaukee County, another Dem stronghold, just recalled about 5 County Supervisors (all Dims) over a pension scandal.

Be careful what you wish for, however. Some of the "reformers" who ran against the incumbents turned around and voted down the new County Executive's severely tightened budget. IOW, they became more of the same old tax and spend crowd that the voters had just thrown out.

Then they are going to run a major national figure like Bill Clinton or Al Gore to replace Davis

I think you're delusional. I believe that the candidate must have 1 year's residency to run. Neither Clinton, nor Gore would qualify -- unless Babs Streisand wants to sign an affidavit that Clinton's real residency in in one of her mansions in Malibou.

Remember when Linda Ronstadt said publicly that Jerry Brown could roll out his sleeping bag in her living room any time? (This was after Jerry Brown -- the homeless Gov -- refused to use the Governor's mansion as his home -- the one that the Reagans built.)

"I think you're delusional. I believe that the candidate must have 1 year's residency to run."

Nope. You are thinking about a normal governorship election.

For a special recall election, a candidate in California must merely have residency (of any length so far as I know), pay $3,500, and submit 65 valid California voter signatures.

Is it delusional to think that Clinton or Gore can't get 65 signatures or $3,500 in California?!

Or is it pure Grade A *denial* to think that the Democrats are simply going to hand over their last political prize (the California governorship is the last political position of any note that Democrats have, after all)?!

It was a big deal about 5 or 6 months ago. I may have read some of it on the old CCIR forum (California Coalition for Immigration Reform). I'll try to find it.

Your profile page has far more amazing revelations. If the kind of voter fraud that you detail is happening at the level the investigator alleges, that is stunning. I always suspected it here, but now you may have real proof.

Dean Gardner was likely the real winner of the 30th Assembly seat. There has been NO action by the state and local authorities for six months. He sent that report to the US Attorney. Hopefully they will investigate.

If the entire state has that level of voter fraud, Bill Simon probably won his election. Also makes me wonder about the presidential election. This should be the state party's goal. They can try to sign up as many new Republicans as they want but if the Dems are cheating we will always lose. Federal election monitors would be nice.

This came up a week ago on Rush or Sean. They researched the issue and said it would require 1 years residence as well.

If the recall is about to hit the ballots, something will happen. Either Feinstein will jump in at the last minute or Davis will resign and Bustamonte will take over.

After the illegal SC rulings in Florida and New Jersey, what's one more in California for the democrats?

ELECTIONS CODE
SECTION 11381-11386

11381. Nominations of candidates to succeed the recalled officer
shall be made in the manner prescribed for nominating a candidate to
that office in a regular election insofar as that procedure is
consistent with this article. The following exceptions shall be made
to that procedure:
(a) For recalls of state officers, the nomination papers and the
declaration of candidacy shall, in each case, be filed no less than
59 days prior to the date of the election and not before the day the
order of the election is issued. The Secretary of State shall
certify the names of the candidates to be placed on the ballot by the
55th day prior to the election.
(b) For recalls of local officers, the nomination papers and the
declaration of candidacy shall, in each case, be filed not less than
75 days prior to the date of the election and not before the day the
order of the election is issued. If the elections official is
required to certify to the governing board the names of the
candidates to be placed on the ballot, that shall be done by the 71st
day prior to the election.
(c) No person whose recall is being sought may be a candidate to
succeed himself or herself at a recall election nor to succeed any
other member of the same governing board whose recall is being sought
at the same election.

11382. No vote cast in the recall election shall be counted for any
candidate unless the voter also voted for or against the recall of
the officer sought to be recalled.

11383. If one-half or more of the votes at a recall election are
"No", the officer sought to be recalled shall continue in office.

11384. If a majority of the votes on a recall proposal are "Yes",
the officer sought to be recalled shall be removed from office upon
the qualification of his successor.

11385. If at a recall election an officer is recalled, the
candidate receiving the highest number of votes for the office shall
be declared elected for the unexpired term of the recalled officer.

11386. If the candidate who received the highest number of votes
fails to qualify within 10 days after receiving his or her
certificate of election, the office to which he or she was elected
shall be vacant, and shall be filled according to law.

California courts can easily rule that 59 days of residency in California qualify. See the full legal text above.

Bill Simon probably won his election

I've believed that since the election. I am dead sure that a deal was made at some point with the Federal government not to intervene. I wonder what Bush got out of it. I say that because even a cursory scroll through the returns would have probably put Davis into a dead heat.

They can try to sign up as many new Republicans as they want but if the Dems are cheating we will always lose

And that's the real reason we have to recall Davis. It is actually the only way we'll ever get him out of there - because in this election, they won't have their GOTV (Get Out The Vote) fraud machine operating anywhere near its normal level. The only people truly motivated to go to the polls are those who detest him - which is probably every legitimate voter in the state. We literally have to have a vote so overwhelming, that the votes of the illegals won't matter.

Don't forget the words of Garry South, Davis campaign manager, quoted in the SF Chronicle two days before the election: "It's over. We won. This is what our money bought us."

I can't believe the reporter didn't follow up on that. I really can't believe any GOP official didn't pursue it.

Big mistake to lump all dems together.

The leadership of the dem party is the group which hyjacked the party. There are a lot of grass roots dems who do not like the bunch in power. x42 has only a 17% approval rating. That can't be all the dems - that means the rest of the party is sitting at home waiting for these dreadful people to go away.

Now ... if we can just teach them to stop voting for them ...??

Voting for a party against your own best interests makes you part of the problem and I have no sympathy for those who support more lies, false promises, and the demonization of anyone who would disagree.

Oh, I hope you are wrong about that! My native state has fallen so far, but that would be the crushing blow. There are a lot of people in CA who did NOT vote for Clinton, Gore, et al; and they do not deserve such an end.

I noticed that Forbes Magazine just profiled my hometown as one of the worst places to live. So sad.
