The point is cultural decay has lead to sloppy thinking - even among conservatives. Words mean things - a hero was once defined as one who with great courage has engaged in bold exploits and/or made great sacrifices for a cause and made remarkable achievements which are regarded as special, above and beyond normal standards, distinguished. Conservatives have long bitched about our lousy educational system and defining deviancy down but are guilty of defining heroism down. We've become just as touchy feelly as the soft headed liberals but for different causes. And that is the whole point.

I been saying the same thing, but not nearly as well. When everybody is a hero, no one is.

Well I had always thought of the men at the Alamo as heros, but I guess you're right. They didn't win anything. All of them were lost. They lost the Alamo. Oh well, I guess words are more important than falsely honoring people. Good call.

The Pentagon knows that the media will fawn all over a female battle hero so they create one. War has always been partly propoganda so the Pentagon fed the press and the libs a great one. Sure Jessica served her country with high distinction but being in the wrong place at the wrong time and then being rescued hardly counts as heroism. Well, to the feminists I guess it does. Let's celebrate the quota captured.

This isn't of Lynch's doing. She's strung together using rods and cast, trying to rahabilitate. None the less the media is going after the nearest thing they can get to her, her reputation. This doesn't stop where the petal meets the metal, the military end of it runs together with what Lynch acually did to wind up like this.Exactly

It's a pity the young lady won't ever be able to tell the truth about what happened.

Pfc. Jessica Lynch, along with the rest of the POWs, are liberated POWs.
Why is it so hard for this simple fact to be recognised and applauded?
Every branch of the armed forces should get greeat credit for this.

Dude, you believe the news reports? Say it ain't so.
To: Mo1
Because she's been ordered to. They tell her it's for national security reasons and she believes them.
To: Fred Mertz
No, I simply believe that Pvt. Lynch should not be a "jump ball," as defined by this editorial.

The entire world has gone nuts. There is no respect for anything anymore. A poor girl is held prisoner by the enemy and it comes to this?

Well, you need to deal with reality, not the propaganda. That's your problem, not mine.
To: Mo1
Why?NOW is afraid if the truth comes out women will be restricted from combat areas.

Because she's been ordered to. They tell her it's for national security reasons and she believes them. If I recall, some of the previous soldiers in past wars that were captured and then release told of their experience .. I see no reason why Prv. Lynch couldn't .. if that is what she wants to do. and something tells me she won't be doing the MTV gig

I have no problems rudeboy. You, unfortunately, can't see through the smoke.
Don't feel badly, you're not the only one.
To: Fred Mertz
Feel what you will, FM, but this editorial is directed to you.
