FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

4ID SOLDIERS SEIZE CASH, VALUABLES IN TIKRIT FARM HOUSES

TIKRIT, Iraq – Fourth Infantry Division soldiers conducted two raids June 18 at separate farm houses outside of Tikrit, seizing $8 million (U.S.), millions of Iraqi dinar, a large sum of British pounds, British Sterling and Euro still waiting to be counted by Coalition Forces.

Other items seized in the raid were expensive jewels and gems with an estimated value of more than $1 million; late-model, Russian-made night vision goggles; a sniper rifle; and uniforms and equipment of Saddam’s personal guard.

The soldiers detained 15-20 individuals associated with Saddam’s Special Security Forces. No casualties were reported from the raid.

These raids are a continuing effort in support of Operation Desert Scorpion. The operation is designed to isolate and defeat remaining pockets of resistance that are delaying the transition to a peaceful and stable Iraq, while simultaneously conducting actions to improve the quality of life for Iraqi citizens.

About 4 or 5 days ago,I heard a report on,I think,MSNBC that said that somebody in the CIA(?)said that they thought that they had an intercept of a message Hussein's oldest son, Qusay(sp?)sent to the remnants of the Baath Party rallying them to keep fighting.I kept flipping channels that day, hoping to hear something more or a repeat on MSNBC but I never heard anything more.I pieced that bit on news with a report on Fox I heard Saturday or Sunday which said that there were thousands of U.S. Special Forces on the move to parts unknown! Again, I kept the TV on Fox,nearly all day when I could, but the report was never repeated. I think somebody got to that reporter. Anybody hear either of these 2 reports?

Well I hope they finally get them. Quesy would be great to capture because I know the Iraqi people would LOVE to get their hands on him. Can you even imagine the celebrations that would go on in that country?

You are correct on the Fox report. I don't remember if it was Saturday or Sunday, but have not heard it mentioned again.

Honestly believe and have previously stated that once Saddam has been captured or confirmed dead the WMD will be found. Don't you know if he can pay a bounty for Americans he can pay a bounty for informers.

Kind of hard to capture splatters in a destroyed building.
The ooze not eaten by bugs, tends to flow into cracks and crevices.

I remember reading, before the war, that Saddam's people were out shopping for Diamonds and other precious stones. If we've found his stash can he be far away? OBTW: why wasn't this place looted?

I hadn't heard that! Thanks! And one more thing, they found uniforms belonging to his personal guard/s. Thanks for the link.
