Howlin it's been quite a while so I'm going to tell you what I think the problem was, but please don't take this as 100% gospel.  None the less, I believe it to be fairly accurate.

There was a problem with a book he was supposed to have written.  I believe the issue was that Write hadn't even written the book, as the book was essentially empty pages, worthly notes or just a shody compilation of nothing.  Then boxes of these books were purchased under a thinly veiled effort to funnel money to the Senator.

Unions, supporters and others bought up boxes of books that were essentially worth nothing.

I didn't get to see one of these.  I'm not sure if the public ever did.  It wasn't something that was run through a bonified publisher or book store chain after they were put together.

Perhaps someone can fill in the blanks on this.  This is sketchy, but it's the best I can do.
