Indictments are expected to be announced today for as many as 17 Detroit Police officers on federal allegations that they looted money from drug dealers and prostitutes, police officials said Wednesday.
Former Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown, who headed the department's public corruption unit, said Wednesday that his former staff had been working on the case with FBI agents since last summer.

Interesting how the crooked cops targeted victimless "criminals"---evidently that's where the money is, thanks to foolish laws against consensual acts by adults.

why is it that everytime someone mentions Detroit I think race riots?
To: MrLeRoy
U.S. Justice Department investigators condemned the department in a complaint for failing to train, supervise, monitor and discipline officers who brutalized people, illegally detained witnesses and subjected prisoners to harm. But the Courts have forced the Police Chief to PROMOTE thees same officers! Even when he did not want to!
What a joke! The only way to fix Detroit is to purge everyone in public office (elected or appointed) and bring in replacements from Poland.

Why didn't you ever answer the question in
this thread yesterday? Are you afraid you'll perpetuate the stereotype that drug warriors are closet gun-grabbers?

While I disagree with a great many of the "official" party positions. (abortion just to name one), I would MUCH rather a Libertarian be in FEDERAL office than I had ANY of the other selections. At least they do agree with the Constitutional position that most issues are STATE issues.

I have it on good authority from several "law&order" freepers that this sort of thing is completely legitimate law enforcement.
