Accused Cop Killer Was Deported Several Times
VISTA, Calif., 6:58 a.m. PDT June 19, 2003 - Officials with the Department of Homeland Security told NBC 7/39 that accused cop-killer Adrian George Camacho was living in the country illegally and had been deported several times during the past 10 years.
Oceanside police officials have told NBC 7/39 that they are wondering what he was doing in the country in the first place and if Officer Tony Zeppetella's death might have been avoided.
Camacho, (pictured, left), 28, an ex-convict with a long criminal record pleaded not guilty Wednesday to fatally shooting an Oceanside police officer during a traffic stop Friday.
Camacho is being held without bail at the Vista Jail. He is charged with murdering Officer Tony Zeppetella on Friday. Prosecutors also charged Camacho with a special circumstance allegation, so he could be eligible for the death penalty if convicted.
Zeppetella, 27, died after being shot three times when he stopped a car in the parking lot of the Navy Federal Credit Union on College Boulevard. A rookie officer, Zeppetella had recently completed field training with the Oceanside Police Department.
Camacho allegedly fled from the shooting scene to the home of his ex-wife's parents on Via Isidro in Zeppetella's squad car. Police surrounded the house and took him into custody after a four-hour standoff.
Camacho's criminal record began when he was still a juvenile:
- He was arrested in 1991 as a juvenile for carrying a loaded firearm in public at the scene of a drive-by shooting. It was also determined that he was a member of the Mesa Locos gang.
- When he was 18, he was arrested on a felony warrant by a North County task force investigating drug and gang crimes. He pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and was sent to prison for 16 months.
- On March 29, 1995, Camacho was charged with possession of heroin and narcotics paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to heroin possession under a plea bargain, and was sentenced to another 16 months.
- On Aug. 9, 1996, he was arrested again on drug charges and for possession of a sawed-off shotgun. He was charged with being a felon in possession of a short-barreled shotgun, receiving stolen property, possession of a narcotic without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to the weapon charge and possessing stolen property and was sentenced to three years in prison.
- On Nov. 27, 1999, Camacho was arrested for failing to pull over for a police officer. According to the police complaint he fled after seeing flashing lights on a patrol car. He pleaded guilty to evading arrest with reckless driving and driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Don't you'll have compassion?
Obviously, he wouldn't have been a killer
if white america hadn't existed. It is
our fault, not his.

It seems Mexicans can run the border at will. We really need to control that border.

In practical terms, how do you do it without turning the US into a garrison state?

How? Simple: Enforce the current laws.
We will never stop illegal border crossings, but we can certainly restrict it to a trickle.
There are laws against illegal employment, housing, welfare, driving, etc. Local cops are, for one reason or another, unable to enforce immigration laws. We need to reverse that.
Simply stopping such nonsense as social workers being denied to ability to turn in illegals, from local cops being able to detain and deport illegals, etc., would do wonders to the situation.
Did you know that when asking the Social Security Admin if a social security number is valid that they warn denying employment based on the information provided is a crime?

The Mexican border apparently has been equipped with a turnstile. President Bush doesn't care, he has made that crystal clear.

At least they got him before he could cross back into the rat hole and then laugh about it, like that other cop killer. If he really does get the death penalty, think about all whining that will come out of mexico, they will sound so french

Patience is infinite, for the touchy-feelie morons when the price paid is
somebody else's life and another family devatated permanently.
These are criminals we're talking about here, whether they ever are caught or not.
What will it take?

In practical terms, how do you do it without turning the US into a garrison state? That's right. Let's see, how can we stop our innocent citizens and our police from being murdered in cold blood. We must be careful now. We don't want to get anyone mad at us, and gawd forbid we upset the mexican government. Gawd forbid we concern ourselves with our own borders instead of those in Outer Mongolia.
We must be practical about this. We really can't stop these poor people from comming here and shooting our police officers and citizens to death. Maybe if we start treating illegal aliens nicer, and offer them free housing, medical care they wont be so mad at us.
Lets be practical about this, and debate and discuss this for another 10 years. Lets not do anything to upset anyone.

We can reduce it SOME--but not to "a trickle."
There are laws against illegal employment, housing, welfare, driving, etc. Local cops are, for one reason or another, unable to enforce immigration laws. We need to reverse that.
True enough, and it will have SOME effect--but considerably less than you think.
Simply stopping such nonsense as social workers being denied to ability to turn in illegals, from local cops being able to detain and deport illegals, etc., would do wonders to the situation.
It will have SOME effect, true. And it's better than doing nothing. But it won't reduce illegal immigration to a "trickle."
Did you know that when asking the Social Security Admin if a social security number is valid that they warn denying employment based on the information provided is a crime?
And did you also know that almost every employer of illegals know damn well that they're hiring illegals? And did you know that only a minority go through the motion of checking the SSN, and they give mulligans until the illegal comes up with one that works?

I'm currently on leave in my hometown. Two of my sisters and one brother are cops here and responded to this shooting Friday night. So many things go wrong that let things like this happen. Too bad this guy wasn't shot at the scene. Last night the news showed his wife vowing to stand by this bag of crap.

Officer killed during a routine traffic stop
It's going to hit the fan pretty soon in California, I suspect.... with the forthcoming recall of that illegal alien - protecting scoundrel Gray Davis and all.
Somebody once said that we'll never know we've been invaded until we try to stop it.

In practical terms, how do you do it without turning the US into a garrison state? Reducing or eliminating the eligibility of illegal aliens to various taxpayer provided benefits would be a start.
