I had the word "permission" in quotes because I'm kind of using it differently from standard usage. I was kind of pointing back to the words of the pastor, that make more sense when interpreted the way we did.

When he said, "You may kiss your bride," I was drawing attention to the word "may." If we've been kissing for months, "may" doesn't really mean anything. But if it's our first kiss, "may" is a blessing, a "permission" in a sense from the Lord to finally kiss.

Just a very simple and innocent interpretation of that phrase. :-)
