The Democrats still have an ace up their sleeve: the fact that it takes 21/31 state senators to approve a redistricting plan. It is believed that the DeLay plan has at best 17 votes in the Senate.

Yeah, and apparently Dewhurst is not fully on Perry's side in this. He doesn't approve of the redistricting.

The article in the DMN said that Dewhurst could have changed the senate rules (which would have given the redistricting a better chance), but refused to do so.

The redistricting may be wrong ... I haven't studied it ... I know the dems were busy little bees the last few years with their own unfair redistricting,

but ... anything that would get rid of that ghastly Martin Frost is fine with me.
