This is partly because of what Democrats are, partly because of what they have done to themselves with campaign finance reform, partly because demographic changes are weakening one of their signature issues and partly because of a conflict between their ideology and fiscal facts.

This says it all. Until the Democratic Party gets back to its roots as the champion of the common man and away, far away, from the "beautiful" people of Hollywood, it will sink further and further and eventually become only a marginalized party.

In most nations of europe the democratic party would be a group of 6 or 7 different parties(environment, socialism lite/heavy, feminists ...)

The Democrat party has become the party of abortionists, gays, gun control freaks, eco-freaks, and the unrepentant marxist/socialist big government types.

They just need to get their message out more ... to benefit the Republicans.
