General Gardner is a good man, you can see it in his face. I really don't know what people expected to happen. Did they really think we'd go in there and in a few weeks restore what has been allowed to decay for decades?
I really wish we'd do more about getting a TV station up and running. Sounds funny, but I think if they had a few talk shows with the Iraqis discussing the solutions for problems, showing what's going on that's good, showing community efforts etc. that would do more good than people realize.
I watched this briefing on C-SPAN tonight and then the Maj Gen of the 4th Inf from Iraq afterwards!
In spite of what our reporters tried to trap them with, he gave a rather positive report on how the effort is going.
