If they lack military superiority, they can't take the island.
They will only strike when they can overwhelm Taiwan quickly and have the forces to detter US response.
A few hundred SU-30MKK/J-12's will do nicely, if they are armed with the R-77 "Amraamski" and modified Moskit supersonic ASMs.

At the time of the Moslem conquest, the area was Christian and Jewish.
I don't endorse the Crusaders' treatment of Jews, or of Constantinople for that matter. But it was perfectly legitimate for the Crusaders to try to reverse Moslem military expansionism.
"...prone to cannibalism and infanticide..." More like starving and desperate.
