Are you sure about that? I heard it was a domestic, cross-country flight and that he was very polite and cooperative with the people who pulled him aside. He is an American of Lebanese descent and a Christian, but other than that I don't know much about him.

Say what? The assault weapons ban is a failure, but if congress were to "undo" it, it would be MORE of a failure? Does that make any kind of sense to anyone?
What really frosted my ass was him saying that he would agree to a tax hike if "the people wanted it." Sure, the multi-millionaire who already has his wealth doesn't mind raising taxes a little. Sounds a lot like Mayor Taxberg in New York.

Yeah, no need for another Pete Wilson here in Cali.
I still like Bill Simon, and although I haven't heard much about him, McClintock seems like a solid candidate.

Yeah, he sounds like another waffling double-talker like Riordan.
And Prop. 187 was a great piece of legislation, until the radical left-wing lawyers got a hold of it. These people are the Bolsheiviks of our day.

For one thing, the poll numbers now are so staggeringly against Red Davis, and the signatures are mounting so quickly, that it seems inevitable.
Also, it's likely that the Rats will even vote to recall, in hopes of getting another "Governor Low-beam" Democrat into office, for the good of their party at least. It's not like last November where the sheeple get to choose between someone who moderates and liberals see as a far-right conservative, and who they see as a somewhat-flawed Democrat. There's always the chance that Di-Fi, or some other Rat could win in the event of a successful recall.

Re: Darrel Issa and Hezbollah:
The charge that Darrell Issa, whose family is of Lebanese Christian origin, has made statements "praising" Hezbollah has been around for a couple of years, since it was first given currency by a columnist for NewsMax, who back in 2001 dubbed Issa "Jihad Darrell."
Issa denies these charges, to which he replied in an interview with another WorldNetDaily writer, Geoff Metcalf. (Metcalf appears to believe that the columnist who originally made the charge got her information from Iranian propaganda sources -- which distorted what Issa actually said for their own purposes -- and didn't bother checking her sources.)
I have no axe to grind on this, since at this time I really have no opinion at this time on whether Issa would or would not make a good governor. I would have to look at his background and record more fully before deciding that. But on this issue, as fellow Republicans, I think we should consider carefully before accepting charges that he is an apologist for "Wahabism," Hezbollah, or any other Islamic cause or organization.

I know he is pretty anti-Israel for one thing.
And I certainly hope he wasn't just saying this thing to appeal to RINOs. That's just like Riordan saying that he despises abortion, but also believes that women have the right to "choose."

Issa reminded the moderate group that he endorsed former Mayor Richard Riordan.
...
Issa vowed Saturday to support renewal of the federal assault-weapons ban this year.
...
Saturday, Issa said he had voted against Proposition 187. "I spoke on both sides of that all along," he explained.
...
he would support tax hikes if voters approve them I thought Issa was supposed to be a moderate-conservative candidate with lots of money and ability to win in the Davis Recall election. I understand politicians will flip-flop on issues and break pledges, but does he have any principles? Unless he refutes these positions/claims, it doesn't look like he shares my values.
Issa described the Davis recall as a "tax revolt," but called nonetheless for higher taxes to build more freeways; the state's gas tax would be indexed to rise at the rate of inflation
I don't see how he would be better than Davis, Feinstein, Bustamante, Schwarzenegger, or Simon in fixing the budget. Will Issa lower or raise taxes and spending? Does he have any concrete plans to reduce spending? So far, I've heard accurate projections from Tom McClintock only.

I remember reading the story about him where he threw a fit because he was "being singled out" because of his race. The guy's a jerk.

Oh it's at least billions. Just sending them to school and providing them with special ed teachers is a fortune. It's at least a grand per child, per year. That's for anyone's kid. Medical must be through the roof. Ugh...

I think the illegal problem should be a major criteria for supporting any candidate here, and the rest of the border states. I also think that another proposition should be put on the ballot, but passing it is one thing, and implementing it is another.

I'm assuming you're a Calif resident...do you know much about Tom McClintock? When I hear him on radio, I'm REALLY impressed.
Not so impressed with Issa, possibly because I've not heard him express his views.

Tom is for California Taxpayers and traditional families, unlike some folks in Sacramento these days.
Time to flush Sacramento from the head down to its toes of all the political manure passed off as social engineering but is nothing more then vote buying and pandering to unions and other special interests.
I'd like to see Tom have a shot at the job. Thanks

Mr (I got the dough.. if you got the recall) Issa was on with John Gibson on Fox and while he is smooth as silk and worth a lot of money, I wish he hadn't tried to decline being behind the recall or thanking Ted Costa for being behind Prop 13.. Just little things but.. If we're gonna judge folks by the words out of their mouths..
