I'm all for the recall.
However, I don't want to see Issa as governor once Red Davis is given the boot.

Issa's an Arabist and borders on being a Wahhabist apologist.
Get him the hell out of DC.

"His votes against gun control earned him an "A" rating last year from the National Rifle Assn. but Issa vowed Saturday to support renewal of the federal assault-weapons ban this year. "If we were to undo it, it would simply make it more of a failure," he said. Say what? The assault weapons ban is a failure, but if congress were to "undo" it, it would be MORE of a failure? Does that make any kind of sense to anyone?

Please explain that to me. I'm in California, and may have the opportunity to vote on this. I've never heard that statment made about him, and am ignorant of his views.

Issa, who happens to serve on the House International Relations committee, has praised Hezbollah (yes I know Hezbollah is not Wahhabist).
He has also praised Arafat, calling him "Charismatic."
On a one-way ticket, with no luggage, boards a plane for Saudi right after 9-11. Of course, he was questioned, and what does he do? He throws a fit, whining about "Arab profiling." This was days after 9-11.

I got this today also. I found much of it concerning and definitely won't be voting for Issa.
To a small group of reporters after his speech in Solvang, Issa said he would support a tax increase if it was approved by the people.
Issa reminded the moderate group that he endorsed former Mayor Richard Riordan.
This is all I need to know right here.
But Saturday, Issa said he had voted against Proposition 187.
Issa described the Davis recall as a "tax revolt," but called nonetheless for higher taxes to build more freeways; the state's gas tax would be indexed to rise at the rate of inflation to ensure highway spending does not decline."
The scary part about this recall is that we won't have enough time to understand the candidates' positions on the issues. Some of them will scarcely be better than Davis.

On Proposition 187, the ballot measure to deny public services to immigrants, Issa staked out a clear position during his unsuccessful 1998 campaign for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination: He backed it despite qualms about a provision barring children of illegal immigrants from public schools. But Saturday, Issa said he had voted against Proposition 187. "I spoke on both sides of that all along," he explained. Ooops he just admitted to speaking out both sides of his mouth. Does anyone here have any figures on how much California spends on the care and feeding of illegal aliens?

you couldn't defeat Davis in a general election with a -13% approval rating, what makes you so confidant you will be able to recall him?
To: Jonez712
The key question: Are Issa's statements representative of how he will act if he is the candidate and becomes governor? Or are they just lip service to the RINO group he was speaking to?
I honestly don't know much about the guy. Is he a conservative in his congressional ratings by the major conservative groups?

Does anyone here have any figures on how much California spends on the care and feeding of illegal aliens? Probably billions. NY has at least a million illegals and the cost is in the hundreds of millions with health care and education.
For this congressman to say what he did, it's no wonder so little is being done nationwide to get a handle on the problem.
To: Reaganwuzthebest
In Los Angeles County alone, illegals cost the county over 150 Million in health care.

And when you factor in education and prison costs you're adding in millions more. And that's just one county.
But I guess they'll keep telling us that without all these illegals our economy would implode.

....and the ERs are so overloaded the system is near collapse.

In Los Angeles County alone, illegals cost the county over 150 Million in health care. I believe the figure is closer to $350M.
