Senator Eddie Lucio (D-Brownsville) was admitted at 10:35 am today to the Emergency Room Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth with chest pains. Chief of Staff Paul Cowan said the Senator may possibly have arterial blockage and they will be conducting further tests. A hospital spokeswoman said the Senator is in serious but stable condition. Lucio was speaking at the Texas School Food Service Association conference on nutrition this morning.

This could be significant. Lucio is the rat Senator from the Valley area with whom the GOP was rumored to be dealing with on redistricting. In exchange for tailoring a Congressional district specifically for Lucio, he was to vote for the Delay redistricting map.
Better check for "rat" poison.

I hope the Senator is alright. I couldn't help but notice the irony of a presumed heart attack taking place while speaking on nutrition.

He was probably talking up the head start food program and someone upstairs got tired of the lies. I get a little tired of them myself.

Even if he is a rat, I wish him well so he can come back and get his butt kicked.

I just saw this reported on my local paper's website and thought this part was interesting. It doesn't say Gov. Perry helped cause Lucio's medical problems, but it almost...almost insinuates as much.
Officials said Lucios incident did occur shortly after a special legislative session scheduled to begin June 30 was called for by Gov. Rick Perry, raising the question about whether or not the senator would be able to attend.

Lucio looked to be on "our" side in this; I'd be questioning Rep. Lon Burnham as to HIS whereabouts yesterday...
