WAKEFIELD, Mass. (AP) Authorities discovered ammunition and bomb-making equipment in an unoccupied home Monday after they were called in by a person who was cleaning the residence.

Federal and state police bomb squads were assisting in the search, which had also revealed literature on how to make bombs and booby traps, Wakefield public safety officials said.

''There was literature that instructed in making bombs and booby traps,''

''It was a fairly innocent call in its beginning,'' Wakefield Police Chief Stephen Doherty told WBZ-TV. ''We were notified by a person who was cleaning up an unoccupied home that they wanted some ammunition which they had discovered removed from the property.''

What the hell does this mean? Did the AP staff go to freakin' school?

This guy who they are talking about in the article probably reloads his shotgun shells.

Thanks Cindy, I wish they would give the nationality, or at least a name, for crying out loud!

I read it to mean that the cleaners called for removal of ammo. The police, however, found the instructions and other things once they were on scene. Things that they were expecting to find due to the nature of the call.

Yes, the editor does seem to be asleep on the job.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I got about 3 pounds of black powder I use to shoot my musket at revolutionary war reenactments, that would make a nice big bang!

Most of the time when I see a story like this, I figure it's much ado about nothing. So the guy had some ammo and maybe reloaded his own shotgun shells. Big deal.

Yes, I have charcoal and gasoline at home and know what to do with it--but most people don't.

The key is that it says there are instructions that were found, too. Unfortunately, many adolescent boys make bombs without parental knowledge.
