I don't know when I've witnessed such bigoted zeal. O'Brien may not have known he'd hit a pedestrian. Such accidents commonly happen in Phoenix, especially at dusk when there are deep shadows and bright exposures. I've only been lucky not to have mown down many a jaywalker myself. If we had a show of hands, I think the proportion of catholic haters here would be depressingly high.

I've only been lucky not to have mown down many a jaywalker myself. And, if you had, you no doubt would have stopped to render aid.
THAT'S the issue here.

The clergy and Vatican have lost the respect of many. Like doctors and lawyers, the percentage of bad apples may be relatively small, but failure to self police the ranks magnifies the problems ten fold. I don't think 'Catholic haters" is the proper terminology because this feeling is not directed at the general Catholic population.

I haven't noticed any Catholic "haters" here. I sure don't hate Catholics.
Maybe a few are guilty of some unfortunate Irish jokes, but no hate -- of course I don't know what those comments removed by the Mod were about. But I think you're just a bit touchy.
This guy may not have known what he hit, but he sure knew he hit something and should have stopped to at least see if it was an animal or human. Common sense, if one has no decency, would leave one to believe that he'd at least check the damage to his car.
Come on, something's up with this and it isn't Catholic hate.

"O'Brien may not have known he'd hit a pedestrian."
There's a picture of the car windshield... he had to have hit something... Even leaving the scene after hitting an animal is against the law...

don't know when I've witnessed such bigoted zeal. Where? Show us the specific replies.
O'Brien may not have known he'd hit a pedestrian.
The object was so large that the guy's windshield was smashed in. Are you telling me that it's normal procedure to just drive merrily along after impacts?

Remind me not to move there. <

Why do you say that? Do you think it is "hating" the Catholic church to be disgusted at all the cover-ups that have gone on over the years regarding the sex abuse of young children? If I genuinely hated the Catholic church, I'd want the scandal to go on and on so that the church would be destroyed from within. But I don't. I want to see the Catholic church come clean and expel all those who committed and/or covered up for these crimes as well as cooperate with law enforcement so that they can be put behind bars where they belong. If the church did that, it would regain credibility and become strong again.
For years in this forum, we attacked the Clintons for all their coverups and their lying and prevaricating ways. Yet there are some here who applaud the Catholic church for doing the same things and attack those who have a problem with that as "haters with an anti-Catholic agenda."
