The article says the pedestrian was jaywalking. That could mean almost anything, but it's possible he stepped into the road and the bishop didn't see him until too late. OTOH, leaving the scene of an accident, especially when there's some possibility you might be able to help the victim, just isn't done.

Anyone can be involved in an accident, and under certain cirucmstances, even a careful drive can hit a pedestrian who darts into the street.
That said, it is IMPOSSIBLE this Bishop didn't know he'd hit someone or something.
For the Bishop to leave the scene, when there was a possiblity that someone was hurt or dying, is an UTTER ABDICATION OF HIS PRIESTLY DUTIES for which he should be DEFROCKED.

Why didn't the Bishop get out of his car and render help to this person? Last rites perhaps would have been nice. This is a disgrace and this Bishop should be thrown out of the church. I'm sick to death of these people. Sick!
