Most folks who don't stop are generally coming from a 3 or 10 Martini dinner.

I would think that might be the case here since he probably has a valid license and no outstanding warrants. The only other excuse is being afraid of the 'hood.

Amen, Amen. This sorry sack representing Catholics needs to go. But I'm sure the Pope couldn't care less. He'll probably be moved to a private boys school in the capacity of driver to special activities.

Why didn't the Bishop get out of his car and render help to this person? Last rites perhaps would have been nice. This is a disgrace and this Bishop should be thrown out of the church. I'm sick to death of these people. Sick!

BUSTED!

And everybody says we have turned the corner. Unfortunately, with little supervision of these criminal bishops and cardinals, it appears the darkest days of the Church are ahead of us.

I don't know when I've witnessed such bigoted zeal. O'Brien may not have known he'd hit a pedestrian. Such accidents commonly happen in Phoenix, especially at dusk when there are deep shadows and bright exposures. I've only been lucky not to have mown down many a jaywalker myself. If we had a show of hands, I think the proportion of catholic haters here would be depressingly high.

Because he's not Catholic. He lost the Faith a long time ago as evidenced by his aiding and abetting sexual predators.

This is the JERK bishop who admitted to hiding child molesting homosexual pedophiles... and then reneged on his plea bargain to avoid prosecution and then virtually dared the DA to nail him...

This is mr "I serve at the pleasure of the pope and answer only to him..."

Prayers for grace and mercy for the family of the dead person... as well as all the little children, now grown into maladjusted serial mental cases who were his victims.

My prayer for the bishop???

You gotta be kidding...

Oh, ye of little faith! After years of sexual molestation of young boys and girls, all it takes one little hit and run killing and you abandon them. How disrespectful.

Because he has been doing it for a decade or more...
hiding perpetrators that is...
admitted it in his plea bargain last month...

and then gave the DA the "virtual finger" via the news media primetime for three weeks... over his involvement in hiding molesting priests.

This is almost impossible to believe, like al capone getting it for... TAX EVASION after all the people he iced...

The divine hand of justice?
Or just a perpetrator, whose do it then cover it up, lifestyle has finally caught up with him...

O'Brien is accused of hitting and killing a 43-year-old pedestrian as the man was jaywalking across Glendale Avenue near 19th Avenue, authorities said.

The posted speed limit on Glendale Ave. at 19th is 40 MPH (IIRC) and the actual speed of traffic there is closer to 47-50 MPH. It's just an unfortunate coincidence that Bishop O'Brien is the one who hit the jaywalker Reed...

Would we be seeing this on Fox News if the driver had been one of us? Somehow, I don't think so...and sadly, it could just as easily have been one of us.

Me thinketh he didn't want to stop because he had/has something to hide. What a disgrace to my faith he is.

For the Bishop to leave the scene, when there was a possiblity that someone was hurt or dying, is an UTTER ABDICATION OF HIS PRIESTLY DUTIES for which he should be DEFROCKED.

The story of the Good Samaritan comes to mind, particularly the action of the Levite--but in this case, the Levite didn't just go on past, he actually whacked the guy in the first place.

The Catholic Church is NOT infallible. Come on. God - yes, Scripture - yes, but the Catholic Church? Please.

I've only been lucky not to have mown down many a jaywalker myself.

And, if you had, you no doubt would have stopped to render aid.

THAT'S the issue here.

LOL. I abandoned these apostates long ago...around the same time they abandoned the Church.

The clergy and Vatican have lost the respect of many. Like doctors and lawyers, the percentage of bad apples may be relatively small, but failure to self police the ranks magnifies the problems ten fold. I don't think 'Catholic haters" is the proper terminology because this feeling is not directed at the general Catholic population.

Agreed. Especially with modern forensics, the only people who profit from fleeing the scene are those who wait for their BAL to go down to zero.
