Hil's publishers seeing green (three-bag barfer)

The publishers of Hillary Clinton's "Living History" are living large.

Simon & Schuster told today's Wall Street Journal that the New York senator's memoir of her eight years as First Lady is in the black, just one week after it went on sale.

An estimated 600,000 of the initial 1 million copies of the book have already been sold, the paper reported on its Web site. Clinton received an $8 million advance for the book and will begin earning more once sales reach 1.2 million books.

"We always expected this book to be a success, but we never expected this kind of velocity," said Jack Romanos, the president and chief executive of Simon & Schuster.

I think the term advance is used meaning two different things. To me advance is money upfront.

when talking about things that are published, an advance commonly means an advance payment against sales......

I'm suggesting we use the Martha Model as the profile in crime for corporate wrongdoing: Martha has been indicted not for insider trading but b/c prosecutors have overwhelming evidence that she broke Title 18, Sec. 1505 of the United States Code, which makes it a felony crime to obstruct and impede a lawful investigation by the federal government. Apparently Martha entered into a conspiracy to hide the truth by lying to investigators from the getgo which is a crime all by itself, even though she may or may not be subsequently charged with insider trading or something else. Martha and her broker are charged with calculatedly lying to government investigators - repeatedly, continuously and consciously - over a period of at least three months for the express purpose of covering up their actions. Martha is charged with personally altering company records and colluding in a coverup. And when Martha went on the CBS morning show and told Jane Clayson and the audience (while chopping cabbage), that there was nothing to worry about, she was actually breaking the law by deceiving her stockholders b/c she failed to alert her stockholders that there indeed was a problem. Collusion? Cover-up? Lying? Hitlery's fingerprints are all over this, as well (smirk). As I pinged to you earlier, bookmark this page to use as evidence.
And keep the Martha Model in your mind's eye as the Simon & Schuster story unfolds.

Collusion? Cover-up? Lying? Gosh, I hope Hitlery is not a part of this (smirk).

Everything the woman touches turns to scandal. But, as usual, S&S employees will hang, Hillary will, "Who me? Lil ole victim me?" and Katie Communist will say "Move on, it just about sex.."

The conniving Clintons perpetrated corruption on a massive scale. Theirs was corruption so endemic, it was tantamount to sedition.

Hmmmm? According to Rush this morning - there was a worker from S&S who said there was no way they had printed 1 mil books - the reason was because they had no place to store it. Also ... according to same worker ... the story of 200,000 the first day was a calculation they could not possibly be able to make and they didn't know where the number came from ...?? Geeeeeee! I bet I can take a wild guess and get it correct ...??

Maybe Publisher's Weekly put it, correctly, on its Fiction list.

She won't be laughing for long if Simon & Schuster can't prove to the shareholders that
their sales figures were booked properly. And where did S&S book the $8M outlay?

Something here is bogus. Excluding all other costs, they would need to earn about $13.33 per book to cover Hillary's advance of $8 million if 600,000 books were sold. My understanding is that Sams and Walmart are selling it for about $15. I also remember hearing earlier that the book would need to sell about 2 million copies for it to be profitable (I guess this assumes $4 per book profit). Does anyone here know about how much a publisher makes per book given the price and advance in Hildabeasts case?

With the Enron Accounting Company.

O'Reilly really needs to interview a S&S exec on his show.

The accounting company booking S&S' Hitlery deal is in a lose-lose situation. They are going to have to (1) add up the figures to suckup to Hitlery and risk flaunting the law ala Enron-Arthur Andersen, or (2) play by the rules and show Hitlery and S&S to be colluding in a fraud.
