Nearly 400 out to support Ithaca's first gay pride march

ITHACA -- Organizers of what was billed as Ithaca's first gay pride celebration said Saturday's turnout exceeded their expectations.

Micaela Salort-Medina, one of about six local people who coordinated Out in the Finger Lakes, said around 350 to 400 people marched in the parade from Washington Park to The Commons.

"When we encounter discrimination of any kind we must remember our duty to confront it," she said. "Let us pledge: Racism and homophobia will not stand in Tompkins County."

At this point, I should probably realize we have lost this particular rhetorical war, but it still galls me that we are supposed to equate a completely physical "condition" (one's skin color, etc.) with a lifestyle which, even if somehow genetically predetermined, still involves an individual making concious choices.

"The lives of our young people are in our hands," Storrs said. "What we do as adults and community members will be the legacy they have from us."

Any one else feel a chill?

I think we know what, if the radical gay activists have their way, that legacy will be.

Even in Ithaca, more people than that go to church on a sunday morning...heck, in Ithaca, more people than that jog every morning...

A little additional research also demonstrates how this article is a good example of how the media (in this case, Gannett/the Ithaca Journal) work overtime to convince the reader that this is a perfectly normal lifestyle, made up of people that are no different than you or I.

Here is the picture the Ithaca Journal used to illustrate the gay pride march:

A bunch of happy, smiling, multi-racial, people of varying ages, who look like they could a PTA or Rotary Club.

Homosexuality is deviant sexual behavior and a mental illness.

Homosexuals: 1) subject their body parts to uses nature did not intend, such activities often presenting immediate risk to the participants; 2) are prone to greater suicide, depression and other mental disorders and deficiencies than the heterosexual population at large; 3) are prone to far greater sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, than the (normal) heterosexual population; 4) molest young people (pedophilia) at a far greater rate than heterosexuals; 5) engage in degrading sexual promiscuity, oftentimes engaging in risky sex with many partners during the same event; 6) are engaged in aggressive and widespread efforts to indoctrinate our children by introducing the homosexual lifestyle using public schools as the primary indoctrination “vehicle” and likewise, through the movie/music/TV industry, with the dual goals of gaining school-age acceptance of homosexuality and encouraging sexual activity among children, especially same-sex experimentation; 7) view most everything through a mindset heavily biased in favor of the homosexual lifestyle and culture, which renders them mostly useless when asked to opine on matters that normal heterosexuals better resolve.

The mental deficiencies described herein applying to homosexuals shall not be confused with the deficiencies associated with the left wing democrat/socialist/Marxist/ feminist/environmentalists, etc., mind, which have their own distinct set of mental disorders.

This doesn't even touch on what the Bible has to say about homosexuality.
