Hillary has at least a 1 in 3 chance of becoming president says Newt
Sean Hannity Radio Show | Week of 6/9/03 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 06/15/2003 10:25:13 AM PDT by 7 x 77

Newt Gingrich on one of this week"s Sean Hannity radio shows said that Hillary "has no worse than a 1 in 3 chance of becoming president".

Other things he said almost verbatim:

• "Those who underestimate the Clintons in politics, no matter what they may think of them in other areas, are making a big mistake.

• "She has endless ambition, is very smart, very determined, and works very hard."

You need to understand how few eligible black men there are in the dating pool for an accomplished, educated woman who deals with national security.

There was a book written a few years ago about the plight of the professional woman who is African-American. I don't find it unusual at all that she isn't married.

Most of the presidents elected recently were governors. In 2008, we'll have several choices that could beat Hillery, but I think Jeb Bush will be the choice if Dubya does not screw up in a major way.

For every soccer mom that would vote for Hillery because she is a woman, there is another woman who will vote against her because she is a lying bi#ch. Outside of NY, Hillary is widely hated.

this is not the way you go after her, by saying she threw a book at someone, or her husband cheats on her. she spins those kind of attacks into gold, playing the victim status. Stick with policy related issues. I never hear the Rs mention that under Bill Clinton, the US saw the greatest concentration of wealth into the hands of the elites, using massive corporate and wall street fraud to accomplish it. Instead, Hillary is allowed to say "the economy was great under my husband". Its was all lies, but no one mentions it. The Justice department should be investigating and prosecuting voter fraud all over the US. How about casually mentioning that their stewardship of the nations defense and intelligence communites gave us 9/11 just seven months after they left office. Indirect attacks against what the Clintons stand for and have done are the best way to knock them back, direct personal attacks won't work. The character issue has been played out as far as we can play it, the people who vote based on that are already on our side, the swing voters in the middle don't care, we can't win them on the character issue (sad to say, but true).

worth repeating often

It all depends on what happens to the economy over the next few years. W will be re elected, because I believe the market is going to continue firming over the next 12-18 months. If, however, we are in for a protracted period of very sluggish growth intermediate term (3-10 yrs), then I think we can say hello to President Hillary Clinton, and we will all have to work very, very hard to ensure that she does not socialize our nation.

Agree totally, and furthermore, I believe the history of presidential elections would confirm that this is indeed the deciding factor.

Interesting, will the hostility that a lot of woman exhibit toward one another in the workplace show itself at the polls?

I didn't hear anyone raising hell about socialism when FDR hid the Constitution for two terms.

I tend to agree with J. Noble on this thread: '08 is too late. OK. You read it here. She will run in '04

My only quibble is that she cannot survive a conventional campaign. She needs to run from a TV studio, and the 100+ days from the convention to 11/2/04 may be too long to hide.

For that reason, I have long thought that her plan is to replace the candidate after 10/1/04.

The Lautenberg switch was a dry run through the legal issues. I am sure Hillary is polling the benefits of a withdrawal for health reasons versus Arkancide.

she is widely hated, but not by enough of a margin. her approval numbers have risen 10% since this whole book/staged interview thing started. don't underestimate her.

that said, I thing the one issue that would allow Jeb to have a shot is that the "not another Bush again" issue is totally trumped by the "not another Clinton/Bill's third term" issue. in fact, the stability and continuity offered by another Bush might be a big selling point when compared to turning the country back over to the Clintons.

But for sure we need a woman on the ticket, Rice would be perfect, but if she declines, I don't know who else could fill that role.

I could only see that happening (and it is a good thought mind you) if polls showed Bush headed for defeat. The only reason that got Toricelli off the ballot was because they knew that any Dem except him could win.

Just as we have said that she cannot afford to run in 2004 and lose, she also cannot afford to have the Democratic candidate win in 2004. That is equally bad for her. But events such as they are, she has other factors working for her to prevent that.

we are doing what it takes to win, given the possiblity of Hillary as president of the united states, i'd send Cheney for a sex change operation if I thought his (her) presence on the ticket could stop Hillary.

I see, we have to become like Hillary in order to beat her.

No thanks.

Since you decided to eliminate all the other candidates who may be even better qualified but have the burden of standing up when thet pee.

MOST sitting veeps who run for president lose
That is statistically true but in the last 40 years there is just GHWB (winner) and Al Gore (loser.) I think in the modern media driven, sound bite world, 4 years of name recognition and free TV coverage gives a clear advantage to a VP. Perhaps more importantly it helps to avoid an expensive and potentially damaging primary fight that divides our easily divided party. That said I have to fall in with those who think JEB is getting the nod. If you have ever seen him in an interview you'll see that he has every positive his brother has and fewer negatives. He is much more relaxed and natural, and he also comes with a conservative friendly record, a Hispanic wife, perfectly spoken Spanish, and Florida's electoral votes. He is the 800 pound gorilla of 2008.

"...she cannot survive a conventional campaign."

You are correct. Unfortunately, everything about a Hillary Regina campaign will be unconventional. The elite media would see her as their last chance before going over the cliff into years of Republican oblivion and would tell any lie, obscure any truth to get her to the seat of power.

I have not given any thought to her replacing a dim candidate after Oct 1 '04 per the Lautenberg gambit. She would have to get a lot of her 'assets' (aka Dixie Mafia) in place early on to pull that off. She is undoubtedly doing the preliminary work on this now. If there weren't so much at risk, it would be amusing to start the Freeper Office Pool on the number of days between the nomination of a dim VPOTUS or POTUS candidate and the candidate's withdrawal for reasons of 'health.'
