[history]
Faced with a recall that's picking up steam daily -- and a governor who seems to be losing steam with voters just as fast -- Gray Davis' supporters in the Democratic Party have come up with a unique counterstrategy.
They are going to try to make the recall of Davis be about everything but Davis.

I don't like this recall crap!
People should've elected Bill Simon instead.
Californians are stuck with David and they have no one to blame but themselves!

Interesting strategy on the part of the Davis coterie. Flawed, and probably doomed, but interesting. What makes them think that crypto-Greenies in the Democrat party ranks aren't mounting their own run for the ersatz governorship of Kalifornia? After all, the more regular members of the Democrat party invited them in, and let them pay dues, now they want to call more of the shots, and what better platform than the governor's office?
Maybe they will invite Gray back in as a minority post on the committee, and squelch his every suggestion. Talk about being a piñata.

Roger Hedgecock was filling in for Rush this last week and he related that the Davis toadies have had to resort to deception (big surprise) in their efforts to stop the recall. They have been circulating petitions of their own that are disguised as something else, but if you read the fine print it is really a petition to stop the recall. One example he cited was a petition that was ostensibly to "keep teachers from losing their jobs". People wanting to support teachers were actually signing a petition to stop the recall (most people don't read everything on the petition).
No big surprise to anyone, but the teacher's union is solidly behind tactics like this.

political jujitsu aimed at both beating back the Republican- fueled recall and discouraging any ambitious Democrats We're dealing with the Snake Party here. If you're reading their "strategy" in the newspaper you can be sure they're really up to something else. I'm not convinced this recall is really 100 percent Republican fueled. There is a large block of government workers who want to use the recall threat to shake down Davis to prevent cut-backs to them, at the expense of others. Also, there is a block of Democrats who want to get a Republican in power to take the blame for the socialists' mess so they can play the victim, their favorite role. They can't do that with a Democrat in the driver's seat. They want a Republican technically at the wheel so they can tar and feather conservatives and keep the Lawyer's Party feeding at the trough for the next 10 years.

They can't change the subject all they want but the issue of the recall election will be Gray Davis' record - not the ideology of his Republican challenger. People know who Davis is and are inclined to give his opponent the benefit of the doubt. Now let's roll!!!

So if a politican flat out lies to the voters about the state's condition, he should not be subject to being recalled? Kind of rewarding lying isn't it if there is no punishment..?Maybe some other politicians will sit up and take notice that the people are in charge and will draw the line somewhere...

The first thing that Davis trots out when he is threatened is the Abortion Card.
Next will be the race card. His SS troops will claim that evil white racists are behind the recall of Davis!
Then his union thugs will say "The recall of Davis is a threat against Union Members and Union leaders!"

The 2/3's of the eligible voters who didn't show up goes to show what happens when folks get apathetic and are disconnected from the political process.
I wish there was a way to know how big a turn-out there will be. A lot of folks have already left or are packing.. And more illegals arrrive daily and unpack.
No easy answers to California'sproblems if you listen to the Davi$ spin and the demRats deny any spending cuts are needed.. They want to put that off until next year.
Yeah, we get the govt we deserve, alright.
