Hundreds of thousands are in the streets of the capital despite the very late time and protests along with sporadic clashes are happenening in several areas of Tehran.

Demos and clashes are rocking the south, north, east, west and especially the center of the Capital. From Nazi Abad and Majidie to Shahrak Gharb and Guisha and from Dolat and Shariati to Rey, hundreds of gatherings and thousands and thousands of protesters are showing their rejection of the regime.

At several occasion, brutal plainclothes men were captured by the demonstrators and were attached to trees.

Several patrols and plainclothes men's bikes have been destroyed as were caught filming the demonstrators. the regime's agents were saved from lynchage with the intervention of some of the protesters.

Tear Gas is used in different areas and chase and run is taking place.

The regime has placed its vital buildings, such as Governments and radio and TV under huge surveillance to avoid a popular take over.

The night will be very long.

Looking at these pictures, it is apparent that untrained thugs did this. The way that the doors are battered, not breached, the cornered bloodstains, the excessive gore all seem to be the work of angry, cruel thugs, not methodical and precise like police or special ops units. As I understand many of these 'hired hands' are foriegners, this should incite public rage even more so than just run of the mill police brutality.

Just my 2 cents.

If you check out the Iranian blogs, some with first hand accounts from the students, many who are not involved or in the periphery are having a terrible time.

I think it's very irresponsible, and unacceptable (from those who would call themelves journalists), that this isn't given more coverage. If only to give the protestors a sense that the sane world is behind them.

If you are right, then this is good news as it means the rulers of Iran can
no longer get enough of their own people to the dirty work. Using foreign
mercenaries to prop up their regime is a sure way to lose power.

I emailed most of the large news agencies last night and am astounded that there is still hardly any coverage of something so enormous and important. I'll be praying and thinking of them every minute until this is over...
