"...former Philadelphia prosecutor and Republican Senate Judiciary Committee member Arlen Specter let his wife Joan accept a six-figure appointment directly from President Clinton just six months before the impeachment vote."

'nuff said!

From politicsny.com is the below. This seat is NOT in play, unless Rudy jumps in. You can write that down.

Governor George Pataki is actively searching for a Republican candidate to run against Chuck Schumer for U.S. Senate in 2004, according to sources at the State Capitol. But the GOP doesn’t possess lots of talent sitting on the bench.

Pataki is said to be looking for a fresh-faced candidate who is moderate enough to appeal to a general election audience, but conservative enough to win the Conservative Party’s line. Pataki would like to find someone who doesn’t have much of a public record, to minimize the attacks that inevitably will come from the Democrats.

We’re told that the governor is not interested in “a RICK LAZIO-type” candidate. What that means in Pataki-speak is the governor’s handlers do not want a candidate who will run a campaign independent of their political operation. When the governor finds a candidate, that candidate will run a Pataki-like campaign that employs the governor’s people.

Under almost no circumstances, our sources say, will Governor Pataki support Congressman PETER KING (R-Seaford), who has expressed interest in running, for a U.S. Senate race.

King confuses politics and government

If U.S. Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) wants to be a credible statewide candidate, he’s going to have to professionalize his operation.

When folks interested in getting information about the Long Island congressman’s potential U.S. Senate campaign visit his political committee’s website (http://www.peterking2004.com/) they are transferred to his official government website (http://www.house.gov/king/district.html).

Benjamin for Senate?

PoliticsNY.com has heard that MICHAEL BENJAMIN, a Manhattan-based civic activist and Young Republican, is exploring a run for U.S. Senate against Chuck Schumer. Benjamin, president of the Society of Republican Citizens, has published a pamphlet detailing his goals for a Senate run and his vision for the Republican Party.

Benjamin’s chief supporters include DAVID WARREN, the Log Cabin Republican leader, and SEAN O’SULLIVAN, the president of the New York State Young Republicans, who have been circulating e-mails lining up YR and LCR support for their candidate.

Chuckie backing Specktoooooor? Hmmmm...things could be looking better for Toomey's campaign. Chuckie sure is cocky for submitting HIS OWN LIST of judicial nominees...Hillary probably put him up to it.

This is a bluff, because every day they filibuster now is a nail in the Democrats' '04 presidential coffin. Hope Frisk tells 'em what they can DO with that list.

Could it be that PA has a RAT governor?

50-50 Senate. Lincoln Chafee jumps. RAT-controlled Senate.

I wonder why Chuck Schumer thinks Arlen Specter would make a good Supreme Court Justice?

Easy as A-B-C

Hmmmm? is right! There is only one reason ... in order to open the door for a DEMOCRAT to be appointed to take his place ...???

Is anybody else getting the idea the dems are getting more than desperate ...?? ... and they are in full panic mode. Should we be looking for more and more of the "Lautenberg" scenarios in the elections in '04 ...?? ... maybe we should be checking our state laws regarding replacement candidates ... Hmmmm?

"Having Shumer want Specter as a court judge is a real good reason for Pubbies not to vote for Specter and a good reason for Bush not to nominate him."

I sincerely doubt President Bush is gonna nominate Specktour.

I agree abortion is #1. But censoring religious speech is right up there too. Pryor has even more baggage. He fought trial lawyers all the way to the Supreme Court and won. The issue was making "language" a civil right. Clinton signed an EO creating that little law. Lawyers were set to make big bucks suing every time an Urdu, Farsi or Finnish speaker didn't get to take a driver's license exam in their native tongue. They are hitting back at him now by funding the campaign against his nomination.

Please someone correct me if I'm mistaken but I think Arlen Specter was on the Warren Commisssion when it investigated the JFK assassination. Specter was the individual who spawn the "single bullet" theory, thus the bullet that exploded JFK's head was the same bullet that went through then Texas Governer, George McGovern's wrist. What's funnier is an UNDAMAGED rifle slug was discovered laying on JFK's hospital gurney and it was deemed by the Warren Commission to be the bullet that killed JFK. This speaks volumes as to what kind of judge Arlen Specter would make not to mention what kind of senator/man Shummer is for nominating him.

So according to Chuck "the Brain Tumor" Schumer, regardless of the wishes of the people who elected the President, who according to the Constitution nominates the Justices, the President must select candidates who are in lock step with the liberal manipulated Senate's agenda of eternallly legalized baby butchering and all it's other inhumane, un-American, anti Constitution, agendas.

THe Senate's attitude of obstruction, toward the most qualified of President Bush's appointees, sends a message to us all. The only Branch of Government presently blocking the way to a better America, is the Senate. We know who is a part of the problem and who isn't. Let the next election be a time of house cleaning in the Senate.

Another reason is Spector's age. Chucky probably thinks that Demonrats are suffering Supreme Court deficiency anemia and does not want any more GOP justices named in their 40s. Spector is straight, isn't he? How can he equal Souder?

The recommendations by Schumer are trojan horse judicial nominees- along the lines of David Souter, the supreme court justice Bush 41 nominated and now rules liberally on every case he gets. We know that Schumer was aided in this report by liberal legal organizations to find "another Souter"- someone with seemingly conservative qualifications but who has been drifting leftward and would be a reliable Democrat on the Supreme Court bench. These handful of recommendations by Schumer should not merely be discarded by the White House, all Republican senators should be advised not to be fooled into advocating any of these nominees.

Specter is a RINO and Schumer is a socialist. It makes for a good hollyweird movie, but both of 'em need to ride off into the sunset and never cast another vote on anything.
