After taking the week off from work at taxpayer expense to pimp her book, Hitlery and her circus made their way to White Plains, New York. Though unsuccessful in my attempt to get Westchester County Freepers to join in with me I would be damned if I was going to let this go by without voicing my opinion!
My odyssey actually started last night; the Borders Bookstore where the event was taking place is only ten minutes from my office, so I gave it a visit to scope it out. I wanted to see where Hitlery would sit and where I should march with my sign for maximum visual impact.
Next I made my signs first thing this morning. I wanted to be harsh but with the possibility of being the only protestor out there I ran a risk if I was vicious. My double sided sign simply read; "Another Clinton Fraud" on the front and "Rudy G. in 2006" on the back.
The festivities started at 7PM and I got there on the hour. I was a little nervous as I was the only protestor and did not know how the police would react. I help up my sign and just walked back and forth in front of the only windows in the store. First the cops looked on quizzically but after reading my message, they just smiled.
Many did not know what to make of me but you could tell the Hitlery loyalists; they came dressed in their Sunday best (remember, Hitlery has now found faith!), only walked by me when completely necessary and gave me dirty looks or looked at me as though I were scum.
I just walked back and forth.
A few were respectful and nasty. One old dude walked by and said, "you have the right to hold up your ridiculous sign", and I shot back, "hope you feel better now."
One women walked by me with her boyfriend, Hitlery book in hand, and said, "I respect your passion."
I got the idea Hitlery has a large lesbian following and the ones that seemed to be dykes were the loudest and most obnoxious. One women hopped by me yelling, "let's go Hitlery, let's go Hitlery, run for President". A group of them were on the other side of the street yelling "we love Clinton." One, who was holding three copies of Hitlery's marxist manual said, "Your wasting your time," to which I replied, "you're wasting your money" after pointing to the books!
Though Hitlery herself could not see me her people did and I could tell they were irked by my presence. Every so often one of her security guards/secret service (usually some 20-year old kid dressed in a suit with an earpiece...part of the Hitlery youth) would come out, eyeball me, then talk into his hand held device. Guess this was meant to intimidate me as they did it several times but all I did was walk closer to them and push my sign in their direction.
One fat dude came over to me with his buddy and aggressively asked me, "do you work for Guiliani?" and after saying no, he came closer, challenged me and said, "are you sure." Of course I fired back at him being in no mood to take crap from Hitleryites.
One guy saw me, ran out of the store and yelled, "Your sign is wrong, the election is in 2004." Numbnuts, Hitlery is running for reelection in 2006.
Most of Hitlery's followers are cowards as they would cross the road in the middle of traffic rather than pass by me. I guess they saw my sign and figured I was the fly in the ointment. One was so brave that he beeped the horn of his car and flipped me the bird as he was driving by!
I had just as many, if not more, supporters. One guy walked by and said, "your sign says it all". Another told his girlfriend, "this guys the smartest person on the block."
This gorgeous girl was talking to a cop, read my sign and made a beeline for me. She yelled out, "THANK YOU". Figuring this was going to be conflict I asked "for what," to which she replied, "your sign is great, I was going to get a picture of Hitlery, draw pictures all over and bring it down to show her!" (I was going to ask her to join me but since she was with her boyfriend and I'm married with a 3 1/2 month old beautiful baby girl, who was ironically born on 2/15/03 when I was at a Freep rally at the UN, I figured I better not). Even several of the bookstore workers gave me the thumbs up!
The people on the street honking in my favor outnumbered those against me at least 10-to-1.
My original game plan was to stay for 30 minutes but I realized they were funneling people out of the main entrance...where I was protesting. So the longer I stayed the more the Hitleryites would come out of the bookstore, see my sign and walk away angry. In the end I stayed for an hour until no one was around, then I left.
I was glad I did it...I got my point across, made some friend and cheesed of Hitlery's people. One image I will always remember. This poor kid must of been dragged to this thing by his parents and he sat by the window, on the floor, and watched me march for an hour!!
Make sure your voice is heard when Hitlery continues to pimp her book at our expense when she comes to your town!!
I agree
