June 13 (Bloomberg) -- United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan said an international peace force is needed to serve as a buffer between Israelis and Palestinians, the Israeli daily newspaper Ha'aretz reported.
Israel and the Palestinians seem unable to agree on their own to end fighting, Annan said in an interview with the newspaper. An international force is needed to calm both sides and allow peace talks to begin, he said.

I'm so tired of all the "experts" who know how to fix the problems between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
No roadmap, nor the removing of the Israeli settlements in the occupied territories will bring peace to the region.
It is clear that the terror groups in the region will never cease their actions until Israel is wiped off the face of the earth. In fact, the closer the PLA comes to settling its differences with Israel the worse the terrorism will get.
Nothing will change until the PLA forcibly addresses and dismantles these groups or a major war is undertaken by Israel to destroy them.

I just can't see why anyone would have a problem trusting the UN with their security.

I think you folks are being too cynical. Look at it this way: Until now we have found no use for the U.N.. But as shrapnel buffers, I suggest they will perform admirably. Simply replace the blue-helmeted soldiers with the tuxedoed savages currently littering the hallways of that august institution, and let the fireworks begin!
