Vanity - Is triad.rr.com being hacked?

I tried to get e-Mail from triad.rr.com and I got a huge SECURITY ALERT screen, followed by a bunch of porn site ads. I think they are being hacked. Has anyone else had this problem?

Either that, or you've got yourself a virus. Run a scan.

Piedmont Triad Time Warner Cable loads fine for me. Check your anti-virus, or reboot.

As well as updating your antivirus program, you might also try running AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy. This sounds more like spyware than a virus.

A final note to this story and a special thanks to all that answered me.

My computer guy came over and got a freeware program called Spybot. He ran the "Search and Destroy" routine until it stopped finding things. That fixed the problem.

If anyone else is having trouble with unwanted pop-up ads, I suggest you try this program.

Thanks again for all that tried to help me.

PS. You have to run it a number of times and when it asks you if it is OK to run it again on startup you have to answer yes. The reason is because some of these embedded programs get into your memory on startup. Then when you delete them, the residual upper memory "infection" restores them.

Perhaps other Freepers are familiar with the technical side of this situation and can elucidate.
