The US threatens Israel.

All the time posters here ask why Israel holds back. Why it doesn't take care of the terrorists.

Occasionally, the answer is such that the simplest can understand.

Rice: And Israel, she said, must "recognize consequences" from the way it battles terrorism.

This happens all the time.

This is the United States telling Israel that they can not fight terrorism, like we fight terrorism.

Israel can only play to a draw.

The Bush Administration disgusts me.

"Frankly, there are also things that others can do," she added. "The Arab states need, right now, to say that Hamas and other rejectionist organizations, which have said that they intend to destroy the road map, are not speaking for the Arab world."

Has a new word entered the lexicon, or am I just out of the loop?

I listened to Bush's first initial comments yesterday, reacting to the Bus bombing after Israel had already retaliated. What baffles me is that this report above talks of Bush damning Israel, when he didn't do any such thing. If I heard the full body of Bush's comments, and I watched from before he was on camera until afterwards, it's a bald face lie that he condemned Israel.

He spoke of the cowardice and unacceptable behavior of terrorists and their inexcusable actions. At one point he expressed his wish that Israel and the Palestinians would not cast efforts at peace aside, but he in no way attacked Israel.

I think this report is a misinformation job trying to further a defeatist mindset against Israel. It sure doesn't accurately describe anything I saw from Bush yesterday and I'm one person who doesn't pull his punches if I disagree with Bush.

I would generally agree with you, but I am convinced this report mischaracterizes Bush's reaction yesterday.

"Despite the "tragic events" of recent days in Jerusalem and Gaza, Rice said, the Bush administration sees a positive, new chapter in Middle East history, a "real chance to build a future of peace, freedom and opportunity."

When will people learn that PEACE comes AFTER you've defeated ENEMIES of PEACE; not BEFORE.

One cannot negotiate with these motherf!cker terrorist organizations.

She's only stating what I've been saying for 2 days now. Sending in gunships, shooting missiles, was crude. Israel has far better tools than that. Fight terrorism, take out the leaders of Hamas, do what's necessary, but don't be so in your face about it. Send in the Mossad.

Rice: Israel and Palestinian Authority must work as partners

"Ok, since you so-called Palestinians screwed us again, we think you should be "partners" from now on.

In the "partnership" the IDF will play the role of "Marksman."

PLO, you'll be what we call "Targets!"

Won't this be fun!!!

Rice: Israel and Palestinian Authority must work as partners

EARTH TO CONDI: Did you hear what Abbas said? He outright refused to use ANY force WHATSOEVER against Hamas. Period. So you can either continue to live in your fairy-land, or get back to reality and support Israel in its war "to the death" against Hamas. Stop wasting your breath slamming Israel, and start slamming Syria and Saudi Arabia, the enablers and funders of Hamas, who always seem to get away without so much as a rebuke from this increasingly stupid White House.

This happens all the time.

This is the United States telling Israel that they can not fight terrorism, like we fight terrorism.

in this country we usually arrest, charge, and try terrorists.

in israel (at least recently) they fire a missile that kills the terrorist, his wife, young children, and a couple of bystanders.

i think the point rice is making about the way you battle terrorism is pretty clear.

The problem is that Israel's relations are treated within a university head incubation experiment. You cannot accept things like diversity of thoughts and university experimental ideas on a case like in Israel.

The Middle East is not a University, it is the real world. Wake up egg heads!

THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY IS A TERRORIST ENTITY. IT WAS CREATED BY THE PLO AS A FRONTOFFICE FOR INTERNATIONAL "DIPLOMACY." THE PLO WAS CREATED IN 1964, 3 YEARS BEFORE THE "OCCUPATION" BEGAN. THE PLO WANTS ALL OF ISRAEL. IT WANTS TO DESTROY ISRAEL. THE PLO HARBORS, SUPPORTS, INCITES, AND FUNDS TERRORISM. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BUSH DOCTRINE AGAINST THESE GROUPS? FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THIS ORGANIZATION EVEN HAS OFFICES IN WASHINGTON DC!
