Accused Bali bomber Amrozi bin Nurhasyim felt compelled to bomb the Kuta nightclub strip after Australians in Malaysia told him about the uncontrollable behaviour of foreigners there.
Amrozi, who is facing the death sentence over charges of helping to plan and carry out the October 12 attack, told a court in Denpasar today that violence was the only way to get white people out of Bali.
And he revealed that he had played a part in the fatal bombing of the Philippine Ambassador's residence in Jakarta in August 2000 as part of his battle against moral decay.
In a lengthy explanation of his motives for carrying out the Bali bombing, Amrozi said he had worked on a quarrying site in Malaysia with Australian and French construction workers and had learned about explosives there.
"When I was in Malaysia, the white people I knew told me what an easy target Bali was," he told the Denpasar district court.
"I knew the means when I worked with Australians in Malaysia," Amrozi said when asked how he learned about explosives.
The 40-year-old mechanic said he had lived in Malaysia during the early 1990's.
He developed the view that "white people" could not be controlled and that Jews, the US and its allies were trying to conquer the world, "especially in Indonesia, especially in Bali".
"There's no other way than violence to get them out of Indonesia, it's impossible to do by diplomacy," he said adding that violence was the "language" of white people.
Amrozi took responsibility for buying the explosive chemicals and L300 Mitsubushi van used for a car bomb on the Kuta Beach nightclub strip which killed 202 people, including 88 Australians.
He revealed that he and co-accused Imam Samudra, along with the fugitive suspect Idris and Dulmatin, had communicated by text messaging to carry out the operation.
He said they used a code name - dodol kudus - a Javanese sweet to describe the bomb so as not to raise awareness of their intentions.
He said the code for the white van was "little white one" a term that is usually used in Indonesian to refer to a pet animal.
Amrozi told the court that he had also been involved in a number of other bombings in Indonesia in the year 2000, namely the attack on the Philippines Ambassador's residence in which two were killed and the envoy hospitalised, and the Christmas Eve bombings.
He told the court his motive was to fight the decay of religious life throughout the world.
Amrozi denied awareness of the radical terrorist network, Jemaah Islamiah but said he had been to lectures by the alleged spiritual leader Abu Bakar Bashir.
Amrozi said the plotters had constantly changed their mobile phone numbers in order to evade detection.

Methinks this wording would apply better to Jesse or Al.
Good for us ornery white folk.
I hope this prick enjoys his execution.
Yes, the Jews have positively overrun Indonesia and are expanding their iron grasp over the entire Pacific. Sheesh.
