Terrorist Set off for Jerusalem Attack Before Rantisi was Targeted [Will the media report this?]

Sixteen Jews were murdered on a bus in downtown Jerusalem yesterday - yet much of the American media have once again begun talking of a "cycle of violence" and mocking the mutual "finger pointing." The IDF, however, doggedly trying to get its point across, explained once again today that well before its attempted assassination of Hamas leader Rantisi on Tuesday, Hamas was trying to suicide-bomb Israelis all over the country. Twenty such would-be murderers were caught by Israeli forces in the past month - half of them since the Aqaba summit over a week ago.
In addition, the terrorist who committed yesterday's carnage departed on his mission even before the attack on Rantisi. At a meeting held at the Defense Minister's office last night, it was decided that all Hamas leaders are potential targets for Israel, including Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.
Sherri Singer, daughter of New Jersey State Senator Robert W. Singer of Lakewood, New Jersey, was wounded in the attack as well. Out of surgery and speaking in a broken voice from her hospital bed, she said, "President Bush, who I voted for and who I respect, does not understand what goes on here. I'd like to see him come to this country, and visit and talk with Americans who moved here, and see what really it's all about, before he decides to put a peace plan into action. I just think it's sad that he doesn't have any clue about what we're going through as Americans here." Sherri came to Israel to volunteer with victims of terrorism. Her father is on her way over to Israel to visit her.

of course not ... they couldn't blame in on Hamas ... Hamas, after all, is only a full-time terrorist organization that exists for only one purpose ...
and they're here in America, too ...

yep ... I classify them all the same PLO, PFLP, Hamas, Hizbollah, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Al Quaeda, the Taliban ...
they follow Surah 5:51 to the letter ...
The Dinner Table - [5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

This Roadmap is utterly absurd. What would it accomplish? It would reward terrorists with their own state, it would create another very repressive Middle East dictatorship, and it would create another terrorist state right next door on the border to Israel. What possible good could come out of any of that? None. The last thing it would produce is peace.
Also, Israels claim to the territories is much stronger than the Palestinians and legal, no matter how you slice it or dice it. So why pursue the Roadmap, its absolutely ludicrous?
Israel has the power to totally destroy and dismantle the terrorist infrastructures in very short order. Let Israel go forward and clean out the terrorist nest and disarm the Palestinians, then set up a provisional government in the disputed territories that will eventually work towards self-autonomy within Israel. The Palestinians will then quickly become the freest and most affluent Arabs in the Middle East, exactly what the Arab world fears. I can guarantee you they will be far better off under the rule of Israel than the dictatorship of Arafat or any of his cronies, and it would also give Israel the defendable borders it so desperately needs.
As for as the refugees the Arabs created in 1948 are concerned, let the international community work out an international package of monetary and economic aid with Jordan to absorb and integrate them. That problem must be cured too, or it will remain to constantly incite the Arab world.

Yonif, I'm quite impressed with your knowledge, understanding and passion in the Middle East conflicts.....considering the fact that you are 18 years old. Many people like myself did not have such a keen interest in these conflicts until recently. I wish I had because then I would be that more educated on world events. I trying big time to catch up with the likes of you and many, many posters here at FR. Take care.

Sounds like a good plan to me.
The Palies, of course, would not accept it. Not that Israel should give a damn about that.

Unfortunately, Bush is turning out to be a stooge for Arab oil interests and all his rhetoric about fighting terror is nothing more than hot air. His daddy's failed advisors (Powell, Baker, etc.) are running the show and driving his presidency straight into a ditch. Like father, like son.

In addition, the terrorist who committed yesterday's carnage departed on his mission even before the attack on RantisiYou said this yesterday, and I agreed. The attempt on Rantisi wasn't the reason, it was the *excuse* for something that was already planned.
I wish there was more information given about when the bomber left for his mission. Have they found or seen one of those sick martyrdom videos, or what?

Have they found or seen one of those sick martyrdom videos, or what? They may be close. Israeli security forces arrested the uncle and brother of the terrorist. It is all exuses, just like the usage of the term "occupation." If they are really fighting that, what was the purpose of their terrorism when those lands were not "occupied" before 1967? The reason for all this terrorism is the destruction of Israel. It only takes Israel to lose one war for it to become non-existant...one war.

There seem to be FReepers who haven't figured this out either.
Pretty obvious that, although some or most Palestinians may want peace, Hamas feels threatened by the peace process. I guess if your business is suicide bombings, peace would leave you out of a job?

Pretty obvious that, although some or most Palestinians may want peace, Hamas feels threatened by the peace process. I guess if your business is suicide bombings, peace would leave you out of a job? 80% of "Palestinians" want Israel off the map in a 2002 poll. Furthermore, those who are in the peace process, on the Arab side (i.e. the PLO-PA/Arafat-Mazen) are terrorists as Hamas is. There can be no negotiation with such entities as this roadmap clearly does do. It is against all principles.

The Elon plan does not address Jerusalem, or it leaves all of Jerusalem in Israeli hands? Won't this be a 'sticking point'?

Every Hamas member, just like every al Qaeda member, needs to be dead if peace is to have a chance. Throw in Islamic Jihad and several others also.
And I don't want them harmed, but the next step could be to finally create a new home for the Clintons in a 6 x 9 cell. That would also make things better.

So is there anyone left to negotiate with, then? You have Jordan take on the responsibility of representing the "Palestinians." After the terrorist infrastructure is destroyed, you negotiate with the Jordanian government.
