Pak may send troops to Iraq: Musharraf

New Delhi: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said his country might send troops to Iraq as part of the stabilisation forces in the war-ravaged country. "Yes, we may, we would like to send," Gen Musharraf said in an interveiw to NDTV when asked if his country would commit troops to Iraq. However, he said Pakistan needed to know certain parameters on the troop deployment.

On whether Pakistan was part of the global war against terror, Gen Musharraf, who is scheduled to meet US President George W Bush at Camp David later this month, replied in the affirmative.

On the opposition demand that he resign as the Army Chief or as President, Gen Musharraf said the issue had to be resolved satisfactorily.

"I do believe that one person should not hold two posts. But I am holding it till we establish the democracy we are talking about. In the process, I don't want to destabilise Pakistan. So, therefore, I will continue in unfirom. But once these institutions come and start performing their roles...separation of the Presidency from the uniform must be ensured and I will do it."

He, however, stated that there was no deadline for this.

Great. Let's just invite the Saudis and Al-Qaeda to join the force as well.

This sounds like a bad idea.

Like I said, we might as well invite Al-Qaeda to join the stabilization force.

Just great. Now we'll have even more potential hostiles to deal with when they go nuts and shoot at our troops.

Couldn't have said it better. Just because the Pakis took a plea agreement and are being relatively good little jihadists these days doesn't mean they should be trusted.

Remember: the only reason the Pakis weren't up to bat with Ashcanistan was because they took responsibility for what they created and got somewhat real.

Wrong.. Paki's will be respected on the streets far more than "western soliders". What do you think the Paki's will do on the street there? Wage war against us?

Yes, as we turned a blind eye to the Pakis raking it in from heroin production by their beloved little baby, the Taliban, in Ashcanistan, while their madrassas turned out lots of little OBLs at terrorist training camps in, yes, Ashcanistan.

Pak may send troops to Iraq: Musharraf

One reads the headline and it begs the question: on which side will they fight? Its telling that it seems equally likely that he would be on either side

It might actually be a good idea. If we can get some muslims to occupy muslim land instead of our forces, it might reduce anger, not to mention the risk to our troops.

Things are getting better with India. We have made some of the most important captures in the 9/11 terrorist hunt on their soil. I'm not really sure what the heroin picture has to do with having their troops help us out in Iraq. But hey if that logic suits you.. go with it.
