HANOVER, N.H. - Hardly any political signs. Hardly any political conversation. Hardly any interest. Don't let anyone tell you that political fever has broken out up here in New Hampshire.
Of course, it is eight months before the presidential primary. But while most people are planning their week by the lake and thinking about summer -- the warm weather and sunshine have come late here, as they have in most parts of the East -- the early political maneuvering has begun and the early themes are apparent. There's every reason to think next winter's New Hampshire primary will be, as Sammy Sosa would say if he were a New Englander, a corkah.
