I think it's pure welfare. But at least it gets the money out of Washington. The liquor stores are gonna love this.

Heres the problem: My Aunt, whom I adore, and who is far from ignorant or stupid, nevertheless looked at the fact that people in the 10K to 26K range wouldn't be getting a check for their children and those over that amount will, and said "the democrats are right -- it really is tax cuts for the rich. Because I pay taxes". Which she does -- sales tax, property tax, state income tax, payroll tax. She isn't going to study the issue and understand the nuanced difference between federal income tax and the rest. Besides she does have Federal income tax withheld and she has to file. It's not real clear unless you study it that you're not paying anything. She basically thinks the government is a bunch of crooks anyway -- pubbie or dcrap. And there are many more like her.

For the record she has a very nice 80 acre property and works part time at the senior citizens center for something to do.

This has something to do with politics but the main purpose is that the economy is tanking. Washington is doing a "helicopter drop" of money into the system so that future economic activity will look good. This will not slow down government spending and debt expansion which will continue at a record setting pace. Central planning at its worst.

And in turn so will the economy. Cmon people, politics have to be about compromise sometimes. I dont like the two compromises proposed by the WH,(Roadmap)but we cant have evrything. Give the money to the poor this time, it will get spent at the liquor store and walmart, so thats good for the economy. As for the roadmap, the Arabs cant handle the responsibility, it will fail. And Bush and co will say we tried, and turn it over to Sharon. But to not vote for Bush, or not vote at all, or worse for one one the clowns on the other team in addition to being childish, is just plain assinine. Can you imagine Breck-girl in charge? How about Ketchup boy?

No it doesn't. The massive sow distributes the money. It does nothing of the sort. It's communism, or income redistribution, pure and simple. W has 6 months to change my mind. I'm on the sidelines as of now.
