WASHINGTON (CNN ) -- Bush administration officials did not authorize the use of federal funds to help Texas Rangers look for state Democrats who walked out of the Texas Capitol last month over a redistricting dispute, and no Bush officials were involved in that search, the White House press secretary said Monday.

Okay, so let me get this straight: When the DEMOCRATS break the law outright, it's just dandy..... but when there is even a HINT of impropiety among Republicans, it is a charge that must be answered on paper.

Gotchya.

What...you didn't know that?

It extends to other issues as well.

As I recall, Newt Gingrich had to give back his paltry $4.5 million book advance because of "ethical questions." This was one of the many baseless charges leveled against him that eventually sent Newt packing.

Meanwhile, BrunHilda is waltzing to the bank with $8 million for her stupid, useless book, and nobody says a word.

Former REPUBLICAN Senator Bob Packwood is retiring in discrace these days for hitting on, and occasionally smooching women. Meanwhile, the Bent One is raking in big bucks making speeches to cheering throngs all across the country and world.

The 64 dollar question is: who's to blame for allowing this double standard?

I blame the Pubbies.

Well, y'see, the difference is that Newt was an elected politician; whereas and on the other hand, Hillary is an elected politician.

So you can see the difference.

Y'see.

This story getting "legs" has absolutely amazed me. I don't know how the press thinks they can speak of these Demos as "courageous" like I've seen them on ABCNBCCBS being chased by "big government dirty tricks" and keep a straight face. Maybe I've been ignoring the mainstreme press for too long, but ignoring the obvious unprecidented act of subverting the democratic process seems like a whole new level of desperate Democractic partisanship.

Which Democrats are they talking about searching for?

The Chicken D's or Dem voters?

The Chicken D's.

Dem voters can be faithfully found in cemetaries, insane asylums, and homeless shelters -- as they are each election.

As well as you know me, do you think I ever forget about the strip bars in North Dakota?

it is a charge that must be answered on paper.

No, a republican must resign based on a charge that something might have been improper whether its true or not.

Mark my words.... Before this decade is out, the new standard will be: That a Republican will need to resign based on a charge that a Democrat did something wrong.
