>>Regardless of motive, the school has sent a message that may lead some to conclude that gay is bad - a message with dangerous and unacceptable consequences in school."...." <<
Oh those zany gays!!
Why not have all those young pretty boys see the gays? It may hurt their psychies to not see the frolic. And of course it would be educational. /sarcasm off/

130,000 gays flooding the Park during their stay is just about right on the money.
Speaking of $$$'s, always follow the money trail. Disney does not see homosexuals, it sees green. The average gay drops an inordinate amount of cash per day at Disney World.
They are a generally affluent group. They have no spouses or kids, so they have more disposable money to spend at the park. They seek out the better restaurants and stay at the high-priced hotels on the grounds rather than at a Motel 6 on the Orlando Strip. They get caught up in the bonding and festive mood of Gay Days with child-like glee, buying inordinate amounts of souvenirs, gifts and fast food and drinks. They party in the Disney night spots till late at night, dropping beaucoup bucks.
Disney Corp. has made mega-millions from its homosexual and lesbian visitors over the years. So don't look for it to stop the music, ever.

fine just warn parents so they can schedule accordingly.
To: ZGuy
For 13 years, Disney and Gay Days organizers have had an "unofficial" relationship in which the Disney execs, without publicly endorsing Gay Days, have bent over backwards to make sure the accommodations fit the needs of those participating in the gala.I think the Disney execs "bend over frontwards" for Gay Days.

I agree, but it also behooves parents to seek out the information themselves so they can schedule accordingly.
We freepers are informed, but you'd be surprised to know how many people are totally unaware that Disney even has "Gay Days" at all. They go there with their kids and are shocked.
Or, and more commonly, they don't care a hoot what surroundings they expose their children to.
Sad, but true, state of affairs.

I have a co-worker who just got back from being at Disney World last week during Gay Days. He is a conservative and took his wife and young children with him for the entire week in Disney World. They stayed at a hotel in the park itself. He didn't know about Gay Day's when he booked the trip but found out about it just before they left.
He told me today that he saw no evidence of it in the park. He saw only one couple (female) that he was sure was gay, otherwise, he said that there was no evidence of it at all. And this from someone who was actually looking for it!!!!

local tv did a story and they showed redshirts on mainstreet. Perhaps it was the same group of homosexuals.
To: ZGuy
At the first "Gay Days" get-together at Disney, the organizers asked that the gays wear red shirts so they could recognize each other.
To this day, Disney will give each straight a free Disney shirt if he or she unknowingly wears a red shirt and complains to management.

Interesting.
I guess that I'm of two minds on the subject. Disney is a private entity and can support any cause that they want. However, I would not want my kids around a bunch of partying, unfamiliar adults - gay, straight, or otherwise. I wouldn't want them on Bourbon St. at night (or any other party place) for the same reason.....
I used to think that Disney had the responsibility to notify families of Gay Days. However, if your co-worker is correct, I guess this whole thing gets filed in the 'who cares' bin.
I'd still be interested to see if there was a difference in the police reports. There's been talk on FR before about gay pride events (parades, etc) driving up misdemeanor crimes like drug possession and public indecency. Thought that this would be a good, contained place to do a hard comparison.

"Disney is a private entity and can support any cause that they want. "
While that is true here are some events Disney won't allow!
1. Talk Radio Days -- Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Larry Elder host a good family time.
2. Straight and Like It Days -- ex-Gays and ex-Lesbians who have beat the bondage of perversity bring families to celebrate heterosexualism.
3. Gulf Veteran Days -- returning soldiers from the gulf unwind with their families.

Disney does not see homosexuals, it sees green. Exactly.
GayDays.com - let's spend a lot of money at Disney World.
Southern Baptist Convention - don't spend any money at Disney World.

Gay Days at Disneyland is merely an homage to what is probably the largest gay working force in the industry: AT Disney.
