>>I'm probably just really overreaching here, AAID, about the theobromine, but wonder if it could be available in say a powder/liquid form, and put in a nice hot cup of chocolate before bedtime. Because theobromine is derived from cacoa beans, maybe the chocolate flavor would not be altered, and one might drink a hot cup of cocoa without noticing a thing. Now, it might not kill, but might it render a victim incapacitated and unable to defend oneself<<

Theobromine is *already* in chocolate or anything derived from cocoa beans. It is naturally occurring in these things much like caffeine is.

Like caffeine, theobromine is a somewhat *inert* ingredient. It is a mild diuertic (makes a person pee) and a mild stimulant. Caffeine does the same things. That's pretty much all theobromine does to people.

Theobromine has no ability to knock a person out or disable them. In fact, as a stimulant (even though mild) it does the opposite--keeps a person awake and slightly agitated.

"Hello, pro shop? Hi, this is Scott Peterson. I had an 8:30 tee time. Well, I've got to cancel. Bit of a mess here to clean up... thanks. Catch you later..."

Ohhhhh, o.k. I did know that caffeine was a stimulant and diuretic, but it just seems so unreal that theobromine can kill domestic pets and have no effect on human beings, even in "overdoses". You know what I mean--alcohol won't kill human beings taken in certain quantities, but still I have known people who died from alcohol poisoning. Of course, alcohol is a depressant while caffeine is a stimulant. But I do understand what you're saying, and believe you to be correct. Just trying out a new theory on how Scott might have killed Laci and wondering outloud. :o)

But wait, now, CD, about his telling Amy he had that early tee time. There was supposedly more to the story. Supposedly he remarked to her about this tee time, as Amy cut his hair, on the late afternoon of 12/23. And Laci would have been sitting right there. B/C Laci went with him to Salon Salon, where Amy worked.

Amy had some Christmas fruit basket which she had to pick up the next day. So Scott offered to pick up the fruit basket for her. I think Amy got a call during the day on the 24th, from whoever had the fruit basket, complaining that it still hadn't been picked up.

No, I don't think this particular thing about the tee time was any sort of pointed lie to an in-law. There's something funny about the whole thing. Why would he lie to Amy about picking up the fruit basket, when he knew darn well she could call him on it next time she saw him? (Unless maybe he KNEW that, contrary to everyone's belief, he WASN'T going to be having dinner at the Rochas' on Christmas Eve.)

I am not saying he is innocent, but there is no hard evidence of guilt

Exactly! None that we know of, at any rate!

The parking ticket thingie, I think I heard it had a time of about 1:00 p.m., or 1:30 p.m. Do you know that they've said that only 5 people used that parking lot that day? B/C it was Christmas Eve, and the water was choppy, and no one was going out, apparently.

I still think there's room for the possibility that Scott had already gotten rid of Laci during the night, and that he simply drove to Berkeley so he could say he'd been there, and get the time-stamped parking ticket. It came from a machine. You just put in a 5-dollar bill. No parking attendant involved. Perhaps Scott dumped Laci in the bay during the night. Maybe he threw her weighted, wrapped body off a bridge. Who knows? Then maybe he decided to go back there to "fish" the next day--actually to reassure himself that the weights had worked, and that she wasn't just floating around in the bay in plain sight.

But now, when you say there's an innocent explanation for all his weird after-the-fact behavior, I don't know. His selling of her car almost immediately? Hard to explain. I've got clothes of my mother's that no one here can wear, and she died a natural death two years ago! His asking a realtor--only about one or two weeks after she disappeared, mind you--about how he might sell the house? And he directed this question to the realtor while AT THE SEARCH CENTER!! Guilty of extremely bad taste, at the very least!

He absolutely shunned the camera for about the first week or two. Kept the hat pulled down over his eyes; he was never filmed without the ball cap, not once, during the time b/f it became known to him that Amber had connected with the police. He was clearly hiding from Amber when being filmed on TV. Even shaved the sides of his head. You couldn't see ANY of his hair in the shots of him back then, thanks to the cap and the shaving of the sides of his head.

If he's been selling Laci's jewelry all along, that will certainly be very telling. And at least one person has been quoted as saying, "Scott would tell us he was going out to put up missing person fliers, then we found out he was actually going to play golf." Wish I'd saved those articles.

Scott refused to sit with any of the family at the New Year's Eve candlelight vigil, and was photographed looking like he was at a frat keg party. That's how big a grin he had. It was obvious that he'd been exchanging jokes with someone nearby. That was only one week after Laci disappeared.

We will soon know if it's true that Scott kept calling Amber right through the whole early missing persons alarm and beginning search. I have heard that he did, and furthermore that, since Amber wasn't supposed to know he was married, Scott was just his usual self with her; not a single mention of his missing wife. Just things as usual.

He's been caught in so many lies, Kim VRWC's has been able to make a website about them all! And we're still counting.

So, we'll see. We don't have the hard evidence yet, but it begins to look like we will see some before this is over.

Excellent point: about how if the clothes the people said she was wearing were found at her home. I picture the people describing them (perhaps from what they saw on the missing posters) and then the prosecutor holding them up and saying, "Did it look like this?" And the witnesses saying unknowingly, "Why, yes, just like that!"

Did you hear on the Greta show tonite that some body parts were found in some water area south of Modesto? They are testing to see if it is animal or human and gender etc. Would it be something if the parts belong to Laci? Off hand they ( the talkingheads anyway) said it appears to be bones of an older person.

I didn't see the vigil at which SP sat apart from family and was grinning like he had listened to a joke. I hope the prosecutors are reading some of this stuff here.

The talking head lawyers on Greta are sounding more and more for the defense. And I am tired of the polls too indicating that MG is having an effect with all his theories.

You must have had your child in the mid 70's...that was the "thing" at the time. And it was good ...it educated women as to what to expect during delivery. Lamaze is good but but you are not a wimp if you need pain killers during delivery. Most do not, some do and some need to be "put out".

Oh, that picture of Scott laughing at the candlelight vigil is all over the web! There he is--and with the ball cap, of course! In the early days of the case, I swear, I don't even think he removed the ball cap when he went to bed! Someone here noticed he stopped wearing it just at the time he found out Amber was known to the police; they said it was pretty obvious that he was hiding from the cameras so Amber wouldn't see him and put two and two together about who he really was. At that point I said, DUH! I had been too slow to realize that till the poster pointed it out.

I THINK I've heard about this particular set of body parts. I think that's in Davis, CA. It's about 90 miles from Modesto. I was disappointed to hear that they now think the body parts are from 4 different people, b/c that makes it unlikely Laci's just "one of the crowd" of people whose body parts were in that dumpster. (They said it was a dumpster.) Supposedly they are testing to see if these parts came from grave-robbing. That shd be easy to tell: they'd have been embalmed.

They are also considering the possibility that the body parts are from some lab or medical school, and just weren't disposed of according to law. Yecchh!

I don't know if any one said this but...maybe Scott gave Laci the "drug" to induce labor and a "miscarrage". If I am not mistaken that drug results in some memory loss or confusion. If Scott was rid of the baby he was rid of another "expense". If he divorced Laci, no child support....think about it...that is a big motive !!!
I believe he did not really want to kill Laci but he did want to be rid of the baby...easy to divorce a wife but a baby is an expense for life and Scott is a selfish man, easy to see.

I have heard on TV and seen remarks here on the threads, that there were some 3900+ phone calls taped (received or placed from SP's house) in a span of one month, wasn't it? Some 130 calls per day. Of those 3900+ calls, how many were to Amber? Have you heard a number?

Nope, I haven't heard. I'm still having trouble just comprehending that many calls in one month.

Surely that count includes calls to/from more than one phone. Actually, I'm starting to think that maybe that count includes calls which were not actually answered, maybe? I could see media types making that many calls to Scott's phone numbers. Yes, that's definitely something I could picture. It would be like having all the telemarketers in the world concentrating on YOUR phones. I have no doubt that the media types are absolutely shameless about calling anyone.

But... it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

>>it just seems so unreal that theobromine can kill domestic pets and have no effect on human beings, even in "overdoses". <<

Humans can't really overdose on theobromine. But cocoa and chocolate products can be toxic or lethal to dogs, cats, and other animals because animals metabolize theobromine much more slowly than humans do. Onions are like that with cats, too. Very harmful to cats but no problem for humans.

Alcohol poisoning would be different, too. But the most people can get from eating too much cocoa or chocolate is an upset stomach or weight gain. I have never heard of a person ingesting an overdose of chocolate.

I suppose Scott could have poisoned Laci but it would have had to have been done with some other chemical and some posions do not remain in the body long or show up in an autopsy on "fresh" remains. In remains in the condition that Laci's are in it would be even iffier as to whether the autopsy could reveal them.

I re watched the show and the body parts found were not in a body of water south of Modesto but in a dumpster. And they were described as similar to those missing on Laci.

Interesting idea but for the fact that Laci was 8 months and at this point, even if she were to go into labor a month early the baby could survive. My niece was due in March..on the 6th and had the baby Feb 10th ( wasn't that Laci's due date?)

Oh one other tidbit I heard I think on Hannity who had that loud mouth Joe Tacapina and I forget gal lawyer's name ( she wasn't allowed 2 words anyway) but the gossip is that Amber is reported to have been pregnant by Scott..new twist here. Don't know the source but the host of the show and the others who have heard the tip through the grapevine don't like it. I think they may think this scoop is coming from the scumbag that wants to print the pics of Amber...give us the naked truth so to speak....:-O
