GEPHARDT TO BE SUED FOR ASSAULT, ABUSE OF PROCESS AND MALICIOUS PROSECUTION
Campaign Staff Joined Conspiracy To Harm Congressional Campaign Opponent, Bill Federer Date: Monday, June 9, 2003
Time: 11:30 AM
Place: Courthouse Steps Circuit Court of St. Louis County 7900 Carondelet Avenue Clayton, Missouri 63105
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, will hold a press conference on Monday, June 9, 2003 at 11:30 AM on the steps of the Circuit Court of St. Louis County Courthouse to announce the filing of a lawsuit against Congressman Richard Gephardt alleging assault, abuse of process, malicious prosecution, and other civil wrongs. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Bill Federer, who ran for (and nearly won) election to Gephardts Missouri congressional seat in 2000. The campaign was the most expensive in Missouri history, and garnered the most votes for any Gephardt opponent. The lawsuit alleges that Gephardt and key campaign aides set up an assault of Federer in the midst of the campaign, and then manufactured a criminal charge against him. On January 9, 2003, Mr. Federer was found innocent by a jury that acquitted him of the false charges in just 25 minutes.

I notice that once they get their hands on it, we can be sure nothing will come of it. And nobody else can take any action, since they already have the case in the system.
Someone FReepmailed me a link, but I don't see any "victory."
Batchelder decided disciplining Martin would be unwarranted, but court members are undergoing "a comprehensive review of the court's internal procedures ... and by doing so the court has greatly reduced the potential for future incidents."
The article reads like a victory, but nobody was jailed, impeached or anything like that. The descision wasn't reversed. How was it a victory?
Actually, Federer was closer to defeating Gephardt in 1998 when he received 42%, instead of the 39.7% in 2000.
