Franklin Park police and the Cook County state's attorney's office are to meet this afternoon to decide if charges should be brought against a village resident who fatally shot and killed a neighbor who broke into his home Thursday night, authorities said.

Police also are trying to determine if the resident had a firearm owner's identification card for the .45-caliber semi-automatic weapon he allegedly fired, fatally wounding Steven Langendorf, 24, of the 3000 block of North Gustav Street in the western suburb.

The guy was probably doped out of his gourd. What else if he didn't stop after 2 warning shots?

Better to be tried by twelve than to see your daughter carried by six.

Yeah, lets have a meeting to figure out if we can get the Dad for anything!

what is wrong with this picture, the guy takes appropriate action to defend his family, using reasonable force, and the criminals that defend criminals want to try to GET him

Should have just shot the SOB. "Warning shots" are called negligent homicide, if they hit some innocent in the next house over.

Good shooting, though: one round in the neck and the SOB definitely won't be raping any 13 yo girls. Ever.

Leftist politicians pass laws to control people -- common sense tells me that such politicians should be convicted for crimes against humanity.

Give this man a medal and call for a special tax cut to repay him for the rounds spent.

And if hizzoner the Mayor of Chicago has anything to say about it, and he probably has "signifgent influence" over the Cook County DA, he will be tried by twelve. In Texas, well of course in Texas there is no such thing as a FOID card, the DA would refer the case to the grand jury, who would promptly no-bill him. Then he'd be given a medal.. figuratively speaking at least. Can you imagine, committing the heinous crime of not obtaining a FOID to go with the tool that you just used to save your family with? Oh the Humanity! </bitter sarcasm

bottom line, the guy's a hero
notice that the first act of the thugs that work for the thuggish government are to figure out if this uppity serf wh had the audacity to ignore "ze states monopoly on ze right to lethal force" and defend his kid, had "ze propah paperverk" in order.
If he didnt you can bet these vile unamerican quisling **cktards will nail him to a post outside city hall.
Dont mind me, Im just basing this on some 15 years of observation of stuff like this.

hey! we're slipping. not one complaint about that headline.

should be "man shoots prowler who broke into home" or something.

the way it is now, I thought they meant OUTSIDE the room in the yard.

If they put this guy in jail, all I can say is that there is no justice in America. If he goes to jail, I say we should hang the judge & the cops to.
