KSFO Hot Talk 560AM sort of Sucks, Lately
When I am at the Bay Area office, and get a chance for a lunch break, its the afternoon and I turn on KSFO, usually its the Sean Hannity show that is being broadcast at the time. But I dont have to listen very long before Dr. Lausra Schlessinger comes on so I flip over to this Modesto station, KMJ 580AM, and listen to folks like Ray Appleton and Bill Manders which is much better talk than the Dr. I have to say. At least I got Savage on the way out of the office, but of late I turn on the dial and theres Sean Hannity (FOX) again, I think Im listening to a rerun. It really sucks. This has been going on for days, and of course, everyone knows now the controversy over KSFO and Savage heck, I just found out all I have to do is flip over to another AM station, 650 on the dial, and there is some real hot talk again. In the morning, they got two dudes who are great, Office Vic and there is a weather man that comes on Brian Sussman and they are really good, but I noticed I have to listen to this Lee Rogers telling everyone how hes hitting delete on email hes getting regarding Savage because he doesnt care. Yeah, I get a lot of email, too every time I check theres like 100 plus I just have to delete, and I sure dont have time to send Lee or that other Lady email on Savage controversy so it aint me sending it nor anyone I know, but I dont know why Rogers has to tell us all each morning how he hates his audience for sending such email, and anyway, I thought maybe he might care since the KSFO line up is on KSFO, and he works the air on KSFO, and maybe he doesnt care about KSFO I guess thats his thing, but you would think he would care, especially since KSFO Hot Talk 560AM really sort of sucks, lately. God, I dont want to listen to his spew how he hates his audience, and I guess that other lady who is married to the KSFO boss she says she doesnt care either, its all business. It sure is business. Its also show business, and it really sucks lately. Anyway, thats my humble opinion, but who cares. They dont care why should I? Heck, Savage is on this 650am, anyway, is there a good hot talk morning show folks know of on the dial when Im in the Bay Area? The best on KSFO is Barbara Simpson shes right on the issues, and doesnt tell us all about how she hates her audience. What a smart lady, that Barbara.

KMJ 580 is from Fresno, not Modesto.
The morning show from Modesto (KFIV 1360) is pretty good though.
As to Lee and Melanie, I'd get tired of reading Email telling me how much better the other guy (Savage) is too.

I turned off savage months ago, he is plain 'not likeable anymore', IMO. Dr Laura is kind of pathetic too. I have found 910AM out of San Francisco, they swiched to the talk format some months ago and do some nice radio. Good to have choices!

There was a time when, for obvious reasons, one wouldn't use the word "sucks" that way in mixed company, and certainly not in print.
Congratulations.

It's bad enough to be a radio-file. But to be a radio-file who thinks everyone else is a radio-file is one who is totally out of touch with reality.
Most people can name about two people on stations in their local market, max. Also 99.99% of the people have never called, written, emailed radio talent.

The policy here is to NEVER, EVER read any article that does not incorporate paragraph breaks, so I have no idea what you just said. Furthur, unless it begins PAY TO THE ORDER OF: I will never know.

But, to be fair, you rightly perceived he's not talking to you. So what? Is it really necessary to address "everyone else" all the time?

The Lee Rogers and Melanie Morgan show sucks. They are the kind of conservatives that give the rest of us a bad name. They are inarticulate and don't support their positions with any meaningful thoughts other than what they probably read elsewhere. She's just plain embarrassing to listen to.

Agree with you on Melanie ("You-can't-fire-me-I'm-married-to-the-station-manager") Swanson, but I enjoy Lee from time to time.

I heard Lee Rodgers' rant on the email this morning too. Big deal. Who cares what he thinks. Overall, the KSFO morning show is pretty solid, but it's strength are the guests they have on during the 7:00 hour and the 8:00 hour. From 7:30-8:00, and from 8:30-9:00, when the guest spots are over, the show is pretty dead. Also, have you noticed how much time Rodgers and Melanie Morgan take off? It seems like one of them is on vacation all the time (or frequently). I think the truth is, they don't like each other.
Melanie was also pontificating this morning about how Carl Rove and the "Bushies" don't "get" California politics. "They don't have a clue," was I think the comment. Well, considering how successful the GOP and conservative causes have been in California in recent years, I'd say there are few Republicans, even in California, who "get" California politics, and who have a clue. Maybe if Ms. Morgan had any kind of track record of success on political issues, she could talk with some degree of authority about how the "Bushies" don't get California politics. She's just breaking verbal wind.
A couple of weeks ago, Jonah Goldberg was on, and Lee Rodgers was bloviating about Bill Bennett's gambling problem. "I've never liked Bennett anyway...," Rodgers said. He went on-and-on about how he couldn't stand Bill Bennett. Frankly, it was telling, because there's a phenomenon of personal relationship that I call the "Pet Peeve Person" -- people tend not to like others who happen to be just like them. Rodgers doesn't like Bennett because he views him as pompous, arrogant, and self-righteous. Guess what? Those are the precise traits of Lee Rodgers.

Often they are entertaining. But a lot of the time, they are just obnoxious blowhards, and mean-spirited ones at that.
I'm really not sure how conservative they are. Neither one of them comes across as very sympathetic to socially conservative issues.

I heard that Savage is in some sort of dispute with the radio station and is presently shopping his show around. So for the meantime I guess you can't pick Savage up in his home town.
To: My2Cents
I forgot about the call ins, you're right, they are far and away the best part of the show. In fact, that is the only part of the show worth listening to. Sometimes I wonder what the guest callers are thinking when they make some point only to have Lee or Melanie make some idiotic comment that totally misses the caller's point. I keep waiting for them to just hang up.
I didn't know that Melanie was married to the station manager. I couldn't understand how she was able to hold down a paying job in a field for which she is clearly unqualified.
To: Brian_Baldwin
Is Brian Wilson still on? I used to enjoy his show.
