cell phones have gps units and can be tracked about anywhere. they can already track us. this isnt farfetched at all. in EU cell phones act as Credit Cards etc, US companies want to act on these ideas as well. they will be able to monitor transactions, locations, etc.

During the confirmation hearings on Judge Bork investigators got a list of the movies he had rented from Blockbuster (or whomever). As a result of that Congress, fearing that their own private filmings of Debbie Does Dallas might become public, passed an explicit Federal law blocking video rentals from disclosure.

Whether that hinders them getting info that OBL rented "Three Men and a Camel" I do not know

Ask her for a specific example of what the Patriot Act does that's so horrible.

And for my edification, ask her why she thinks there's anything going on here that isn't enabled more by the invention of, say, the internet, than by any law on federal books.

Aw, come on, Sam. I thought these posts went to everybody on the forum. I agree with you and I will ask her. Personally, I like the modern-day interpretation of the 1st amendment better than the 4th. If I have a day of low blood pressure, all I do is look how those constitutional guarantees are being abused and I am cured instantly. ;)

Millie, please give me one concrete example of where we have lost these protections. Mind you, no rhetoric, just an example. As is now, all invasive activity must be approved by judicial signature.
