I wanna hold your hand: As a cute cub, Ahpun used to be cuddled by curator Pat Lampi at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage. Now instead of a hug, full-grown Ahpun makes do with an occasional, cautious fingertip touch.
This is my zoo. My niece and I were there the day Pat first had her out in public. Ahpun and Oreo (an orphaned grizzly cub) have been raised together since each was really tiny. Just this week they are going to have to be separated (they are almost 4 years old) because Oreo has gotten too aggresive. *sigh*
