There's an excellent article about Brit over at the Baltimore Sun (per) Curmudgeonly & Skeptical (aka. terpsboy), w/ FR thread linked to the title:
Voice of reason
The Baltimore Sun ^ | June 2, 2003 | David Folkenflik
Brit Hume has the Voice. Perhaps you've heard it before. Deep and unwavering, at once assuring and assured, it instantly conveys authority. The Voice is one you might secretly long to hear from an airline pilot or surgeon.
Hume is the chief Washington anchor for Fox News Channel, a calming presence for the cheeky ratings king of cable television news - a grown-up among fraternity boys...

I just finished reading my Imprimis "hard copy" of "Hume's" [adapted] speech this morning. I kept wishing my sister, who was against the Iraqi war, could read it. It sure is a "keeper."
As usual, Brit's choices in wording are wonderful. He is funny and accurate. He is clear and concise. He gives detailed examples and provides an overview.
He is exceptionally good at thoroughly explaining what he is talking about, without rambling on and on. I imagine some people are (somewhat) naturally talented in that regard, but I'll bet he worked hard to get that good.
God bless Brit Hume.
