Just wanted to make sure that you all are keeping up with DocBear's SARS blog - it's the best, outside of Free Republic (which is the best at collecting the news)
http://agonist.got.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=SARS

Also highly recommended is Tim Bishop's SARS watch:
http://www.sarswatch.org/

Tim has links to other SARS blogs on his front page.

Thank you very much for the links, they're excellent discussions. I've seen them before and visited a couple of times, and I must commend them to all of our SARS regulars...

I did a bit of hunting, but without the exact language of the quote, did not find it.

My, my. People just don't want to listen to you do they? Seems to me you've been vindicated. Have a nice day. China is not the only country lying about SARS cases...hide and watch, wait and see.

I'm not sure what you mean by people not wanting to listen to me...in most cases I think we have a good spirit on these threads...

Say, want to give me a hint about your hint?

Thank you for yoru work on this. To state what we know about how governments are handling these ourbreaks maybe I can call them epidemics. i really am not sure how many cases it takes to constitute an epidemic. canada has implemented a catch 22 definition of SARS and Chins is lying so we really do not know just how severe teh situation in these nations really is or will become. In Canada some teenagers who are supposed to be in quarantine are not obserbing said quarantine. We have no way of knowing the quarantines are comprehensive enough and in the sense we have no knowledge about some of the "suspect cases or possibly case not yet reported to an MD. So we have no good data on which to truly evaluate the spead of SARS so I hereby submit that one must presume that SARS is either on the verge of or has become an epidemic in thse nations.

If you would be inclined to make some extrapolations and guesstimations based on last known good data, I'd LOVE to see the numbers. I'm guessing you already have. If you'd rather not guesstimate publicly but are willing to share please freepmail me.

Your graphs prove the Chinese are lying. Thanks for the good work.

China should be held to account for this, but political considerations have trumped reason. The media is merely parroting the official statements from China. As usual, FR is way ahead of the media.

We won't know the truth in China unless/until it gets so bad that even a totalitarian regime cannot keep it covered up.

Since SARS is a cold virus that turned nasty, I assume it has at least some seasonality to it. If so, the real test for the Chinese will come this winter.

Statistics lie but--in this case statistics which lie greatly suggest the truth! It's not the Stats lying. Great info---and very troubling.

This reads like a '70s disaster film where the evil developer refuses to protect the peole for money reasons.

But _Jim and D. Brian Carter will say that there's no reason to be concerned unless the space aliens can be shown to have altered DNA as a result of the SARS outbreak.
