Ex-POW From N.M. Re-Enlists
Army Gets Alamogordo Soldier For 2 More Years
POSTED: 3:03 p.m. MDT May 30, 2003 UPDATED: 3:41 p.m. MDT May 30, 2003
EL PASO, Texas -- A former prisoner of war in Iraq has re-enlisted.
Army Spc. Joseph Hudson of Alamogordo, N.M., is one of six former POWs from the 507th Maintenance Company at Fort Bliss. He was among the POWs freed in mid-April.
Hudson will serve two more years. He said he hopes to teach other soldiers how to survive captivity.
The 507th was ambushed by Iraqi forces on March 23 near Nasiriyah when it was separated from a convoy. Nine soldiers died in the attack.
Fort Bliss commander Maj. Gen. Stanley Green administered the oath to Hudson Thursday while Hudson's wife, daughter, mother and sister-in-law stood beside him.

This guy had a manly edge when he spoke to the Iraqi cameras, and then when he returned he was quite self-possessed and was the only speaker when the five from his group arrived back at the base.

God Bless Him What An All American Hero!
I remember thinking none of these POWs would be found alive, then so many of them were found and rescued. I think it was one of the most thrilling moments in my life, watching them leave Europe to fly home to the USA!
And now he proves once again, that he is truly an American Hero!

Army Spc. Joseph Hudson is my hero! I remember upon learning of his capture in Iraq, I had fears that his brave attitude combined with his overall 'spunk', grim determination and tough grit may have endangered his life even more.
It was thrilling to see him safely arrive home to his family, and may God continue to bless him.

Joseph Hudson is part Filipino on his mother's side. He's the kind of alloy you get when you mix "bahala na" with God Bless America.

Joseph Hudson is part Filipino on his mother's side. If mother was a Filipina, he has Filipino ancestory, but he is All American!

If his mother was a Filipina, BTW, no disrepect meant to his mother or Filipinos in general. My daughters' pediatrician is from the Phillipines, and she's about the nicest lady I know. Small but mighty inside.
