You've gotta be kidding!!!
Powell was against the first Gulf War, he was against this one, he is good at trying to appease all our enemies, that is NOT the kind of president we need.

LOL We think alike. He also love illegals and just about every lefty idea he runs across. Why he considers himself a Republican is beyond me.

As for Rudi...I love him but let's face it...he's no Conservative either. Gun control, gay rights, etc. etc. etc.

John McCain was once a contender

LOL McLame is so far Left, I'd never vote for him. I'd vote for Mickey Mouse first. When you look up RINO in the dictionary, there are two pictures. One is Colin Powell, the other McCain. :0)

Condi, but only if she takes over for Cheney when he steps down for health reasons after the 2005 inauguration, so she can get some VP experience. She would trounce Hilllary in every category: intelligence, verbal abilities, foreign policy expertise, gravitas, good looks, etc.

Her Veep? I doubt it'd happen, but someone like JD Hayworth of Arizona. Someone who's sharp and not a stiff, and has plenty of experience on the Hill.

Yep, Rice/Hayworth. They'd get my vote for sure.

Hmm. Since we're guessing, I'd like to say that I would love to see Condi as VP. I personally prefer Jeb for POTUS come 08, but it wouldn't be all that difficult for me to get behind Condi in 2016.

As for Giuliani, while I've got some issues with him which would prevent me from endorsing him for President, I think he'd do a great job as Attorney General. Agree? Disagree?

That, however, is my "Dream Team" for '08 so far. Jeb as Pres, Condi as VP, and Rudy as AG.

Jeb is a good man, but nationally he's not popular. He couldn't possibly beat Hillary.

I'm afraid you may be right. Hillary is not a Senator she's a national liberal icon (heaven help us). I don't think the pick-a-governor-because-he-has-executive-experience methos is gonna work this time.

Condi is already very well known and well-respected by most everybody right of center. If she had some VP experience under her girdle, say if Cheney decides to step down after the '04 election, she could be the national superstar we need.

And Hillary IS popular nationally? A large percentage of the population absolutely HATES her guts and would never vote for her no matter what. Besides, how popular was GWB nationally before he ran for President? How many people even knew who he was? Can't the same be said of most Presidential candidates who were previously governors and so only well-known in their states? And besides, Jeb pretty much has Florida locked up (Considering that he won the last election 56-43, I feel pretty confident in saying that). Hillary may get NY and California, but Jeb is bound to get at least Florida and Texas.

Hillary can't win because she would mobilize one of the largest negative turnouts imaginable.

You're right, there isn't anyone in the wings. Hopefully TPTB have recognized the problem.

My dream team is as follows:
President: Jeb
Vice President: Condi
Attorney General: Rudy
S of S: Bernard Kerik
Nat'l Sec. Adv.: Sheriff Michael Corona
Press Sec'y: George P.

And after that, Jeb's son would be ready to go. He's smart, handsome and a demographer's dream: catholic, half-hispanic, from Florida.

Jeb's son sounds good for later on.

But I think we also really need to focus on increasing the Republican majority in Congress so we can get things done, without constantly being obstructed by the Democrats.

Jeb would do OK, Condi would destroy all the competition by the time she is done campaigning.
She has everything it takes to be President TODAY! She just needs to get better known.
The other thing she would do is help some other blacks learn that there is more than one party. She could help break for many a disastrous trend blacks have lived by backing almost exclusively Democrats.

Jeb Bush/Condi Rice ticket would be a shoo in.

Then after 8 years of Jeb, we could have 8 years of Condi, by then she would gets even more experience and would be ready, and would still be young enough.

Jeb Bush -> Condi Rice -> George P. Bush

:-)

"And Hillary IS popular nationally? A large percentage of the population absolutely HATES her guts and would never vote for her no matter what."

Yes, but most of those won't vote for ANY Dem, no matter what. It's the swing voters we need to sway.

"Besides, how popular was GWB nationally before he ran for President? How many people even knew who he was? Can't the same be said of most Presidential candidates who were previously governors and so only well-known in their states?"

I just feel it's different, since Hillary has the iconic, ex-co-president image, and she'll get TONS of glowing, warm-fuzzy positive coverage from Rather, Sawyer, Couric, et al, ad nauseum.

"And besides, Jeb pretty much has Florida locked up (Considering that he won the last election 56-43, I feel pretty confident in saying that). Hillary may get NY and California, but Jeb is bound to get at least Florida and Texas."

Very good point. That would definitely be Jeb's advantage. Perhaps it's paranoia on my part, but I just fear a replay of the whole Rick Lazio thing here. No matter what, it'll be seen as a boy vs. girl fight, and if Jeb so much as tries to be a solid debater or call Hillary on any of her stupid positions, the media will spin it as, "He's picking on the defenseless girl." I dunno.

Since the UN and France screwed Powell, he has moved more to the right regarding his politics IMO!

---

She may be, but I just don't think people are ready to vote for her, and she is young enough that she could wait 12 years and then run as an unbeatable candidate.
