Am I the only one who is sick and tired of the wall-to-wall coverage of this case?

You are so right. I read part of a Laci thread the day that the bodies were found. The level of detail and interest in the gory details about how dead bodies decay and in particular how the baby could have become detached from his mother was sickening. I would have thought that women especially would have been more squeamish, but no, they were totally into the gore and horror of the situation.
People can do what they want with their time, it's no skin off my teeth if they have nothing better to do with their time than fixate on a criminal case. I guess it keeps them off of the streets. But it also says tons about what kind of people they are, and what it says is not positive.

I am.
Wow, that felt therapeutic.

Larry King is one of the bigger pushers of this story.
What I found amusing is that last week, he was asked by Don Imus why does he have the Peterson case on so often. Larry King replied that he really doesn't want it on that often, but he needs to air what the public wants.

Too bad we can't take TV "news" producers and dump them in the ocean.
To: swarthyguy
No kidding! I am so tired of this story.

Larry King replied that he really doesn't want it on that often, but he needs to air what the public wants. Which network/cable outfit said "We give you the news you want to hear"?

I also hate the lying shibboleth "The public demands it", copout line used by the talking heads to justify wall to wall coverage. 10-15 miinutes per hour is still overkill. But all the networks inundate this with legal minutiae and trivial gobbledygook.

I E-Mailed Fox about 10 days ago and told them how sick I was of the whole subject, but no response,of course.
What the heck is there about this case that is causing all this media frenzy?

Who is Scott Peterson? Is he the child molesting UNWMD inspector?
To: Mears; swarthyguy
I think all the attention has to do with :
1. It was Christmas
2. She was attractive
3. She was pregnant
4. Her husband appears to be guilty
5. She and the baby weere found on Easter weekend.

A sick fixation has taken hold, thanks to a Media that has managed to elevate scummy sociopathy/psychopath Scott Petersen into the national dialogue. . .
They have successfully morphed him into a 'culture celebrity'.
Tthere is no turning back for the Media; only option is a 'turning off' by those who are in fact, sick of it.

I'm even tired of flipping it off everytime something about it shows up. The obsession on Fox is more than I can fathom.

6) Her husband does such strange things
7) Some actually believed him to be innocent and the rest enjoy sticking it to those that believe so.
8) His girlfriend goes on national TV with her celebrity lawyer to say she only wants to do what is right and wants no publicity and the next thing you know Larry Flynnt is involved.
9) SP acts like a cad
10) The 'family feud' between the parents. Everyone love to watch family feuds.

And the Amber factor(s).
To: LibertyAndJusticeForAll
Yes...and I think it's because there was a child involved as well. It's terribly sad; Lacey and Connor certainly deserved better. May they both rest in peace.
Personally, while I'd like to see justice done, I find the whole story too sordid and depressing to follow.
