Florence King wrote "Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady" and a host of other books that are somewhere between auto-biography and social commentary. She is very funny and a lot of her remarks, particularly in the book I just mentioned, are aimed at the public school system. In fact, it's interesting to see the long view through her eyes, I think she's just 10 years younger than Margaret Brogely. She went to school when the Dewey-ites were just coming into power, and King spends a lot of time describing how their foolishness made school miserable for her. It's a funny book.

Thank you for the suggestion. I could use some light reading about now and *will* find her book. :oD
