[history]
Chinese officials have seized more than 10,000 wild animals in raids on food markets and ports of entry in an effort to stop transmission of SARS, Agence France-Presse said, citing police and official media.
The virus has been found in civets, badgers and raccoon dogs, according to researchers. These animals have all been seized, along with thousands of other mammals, birds and snakes, AFP said, citing China's official Xinhua News Agency.

Communits are al;ways good at bullying and harrassing people trying to make a living.
Communists put on a show for the outside world, but don't do anything tangible.

Just a few years back
mad cow disease forced Britain
to slaughter millions
of animals. Now
China has tens of thousands
(or even millions)
sentenced to slaughter.
Animal deaths on this scale
make me wonder if
there is a real threat,
(both issues center around
"cross-species" [!] killers)
or if we're making
animals classic scape-goats
in complicated
scenarios of
bad human nutrition and
incomplete human
understanding of
biology and our health.
I know we're better
safe than sorry, but,
Jesus, we as a species
are killing a hell
of a lot of life
lately. I pray all this death
is doing some good.

Much ado about nothing.
Genie is already out of the bottle, and nobody else is stupid enough to believe this press release as anything more than window dressing.

I agree.
I've read it back in January, and have never heard about it again - the delicacy of eating live monkey brains and opening head exposes people to God only knows.
However, this is how AIDS was transmitted, so go figure.
I still believe it is a man-made biological weapon the released for populatioin control (and to invade Taiwan and Hong Kong in the name of "health"), but rather than spreading it and then controlling it, it's beyond the reach of containment.
China can't support 1 billion people and become an industrialized modern country.

Leave it to an ahole like you to find humor in misery that happens to God's other living creatures.

P.S.
You are unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot. And what meaning do you expect your delusionally self-important statements of unknowing, inexperienced opinion to have with us? What fantasy do you hold that you would believe that your tiny-fisted tantrums would have more weight than that of a leprous desert rat, spinning rabidly in a circle, waiting for the bite of the snake?
You are a waste of flesh. You have no rhythm. You are ridiculous and obnoxious. You are the moral equivalent of a leech. You are a living emptiness, a meaningless void. You are sour and senile. You are a disease, you puerile, one-handed, slack-jawed, drooling, meatslapper. On a good day you're a half-wit. You remind me of drool.
You are deficient in all that lends character. You have the personality of wallpaper. You are dank and filthy. You are asinine and benighted. You are the source of all unpleasantness. You spread misery and sorrow wherever you go. You smarmy lagerlout git. You bloody woofter sod. Bugger off, pillock. You grotty wanking oik artless base-court apple-john. You clouted boggish foot-licking twit. You dankish clack-dish plonker. You gormless crook-pated tosser. You churlish boil-brained clotpole ponce. You cockered bum-bailey poofter. You craven dewberry pisshead cockup pratting naff. You gob-kissing gleeking flap-mouthed coxcomb. You dread-bolted fobbing beef-witted clapper-clawed flirt-gill.
P.S.S.: You are hypocritical, greedy, violent, malevolent, vengeful, cowardly, deadly, mendacious, meretricious, loathsome, despicable, belligerent, opportunistic, barratrous, contemptible, criminal, fascistic, bigoted, racist, sexist, avaricious, tasteless, idiotic, brain-damaged, imbecilic, insane, arrogant, deceitful, demented, lame, self-righteous, byzantine, conspiratorial, satanic, fraudulent, libelous, bilious, splenetic, spastic, ignorant, clueless, illegitimate, harmful, destructive, dumb, evasive, double-talking, devious, revisionist, narrow, manipulative, paternalistic, fundamentalist, dogmatic, idolatrous, unethical, cultic, diseased, suppressive, controlling, restrictive, malignant, deceptive, dim, crazy, weird, dystopic, stifling, uncaring, plantigrade, grim, unsympathetic, jargon-spouting, censorious, secretive, aggressive, mind-numbing, arassive, poisonous, flagrant, self-destructive, abusive, socially-retarded, puerile, clueless, and generally Not Good.

Thats comforting to know.
BTW, cat does smell like chicken. Confirmed by a friend who's kitty crawled up into engine area of their car. An hour later, there wasn't much left but the smell.

If the coronavirus in these animals, instead of causing SARS symptoms, confers immunity to SARS, what's the point in getting rid of them? Could this all be a diversion?
