I'm not biting.... I'm just wondering how the press figures his "new look" is of any importance. Can juries be persuaded to think differently if the defendant doesn't look like a bum? That's probably what he's hoping, that picture of him with a beard and dyed hair is going to haunt him the whole trial.

"Police listened in or recorded at least two of the 69 calls between Peterson and Modesto attorney "
I was hoping that no rules would be broken...but even if they did...did they use the information to get knew information..hence the fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine?

". Doesn't all of Laci's property go to her heir, Scott, upon her death?"
Unfortunately, yes...UNLESS SHE HAD A WILL OR TRUST.

I was hoping that no rules would be broken...but even if they did... Rules? Rules? Just give 'em a time-out and take away their fruit roll ups for the day. I'm sure that won't cause needless injury to anyone's self-esteem. /so

I'm not biting.... I'm just wondering how the press figures his "new look" is of any importance. Brace yourself...the folks and the press have figured out that 'ol Scaughty keeps us entertained with his stupidity, arrogance, and callous regard to his missing/dead wife and this is just a piece of the puzzle.
LOL at your tag line!

I don't think all the buzz about the "new look" is because people are interested in his style...IMO the comments are more about Geragos changing Scott's look to make him look more "normal", like a man that couldn't have possibly have slaughtered his family. Defense team wants to erase the image of Scott on the night of his arrest..a man who had quite obviously had altered his appearance.

WRT Putting a tap on a suspects line--one should expect phone calls with attys. If the defendant's atty can prove it was used in the fruits of the poisonous tree doctrine...
that would be an appellate issue only if the info was used..right Amore?

...that picture of him with a beard and dyed hair is going to haunt him the whole trial. He just looked even more guilty than usual with that Fugitive look.

Defense team wants to erase the image of Scott on the night of his arrest..a man who had quite obviously had altered his appearance. Exactly, that's what I think too. It also helps (in their minds) to make him look neat and clean, sort of more respectable, not capable of such a heinous crime.
The press throws it out there as they will everything. It's up to the public to decide whether it's all a gimmick or not.

And what's the tie-in with Chandra Levy's burial? Well I, for one, am gratified that the wall-to-wall of Laci isn't interfering with the wall-to-wall of Chandra. Good to see "news" media has its priorities straight.
I think I'll go back to Spongebob reruns. You guys carry on with the sartorial aspects of the Laci case, which after all is just a local murder story that's been inflated to provide broadcast network income.

Well, at the time they were looking for a living pregnant woman.
One would conclude that they didn't use it because there was nothing to use. Otherwise, he'da been cooling his heels much sooner.
Wouldn't the defense have to prove that there was information that was used? Seems unlikely, but the Amber conversations were far more telling. The Amber tapes, if reports can be trusted, will be the nail.
(Amber looks like Paula Jones now. Well you have to work with what you have, at least they didn't make her look more like Ava)

...which after all is just a local murder story that's been inflated to provide broadcast network income. That may be true, but if this were my daughter I'd still be very happy there was national attention to the case. It puts pressure on the police and the DA to keep the investigation going. Whoever did it has to pay.

"Well, at the time they were looking for a living pregnant woman."
They had reason to believe foul play was involved..
"Wouldn't the defense have to prove that there was information that was used?"
The defense would have to prove..but that would be easy. The prosecution has to explain in detail how it compiled all of the evidence.
